Lobenberg: Ein balsamischer Schleier liegt wie der Duft eines Herbstwaldes über den roten und schwarzen Beerenaromen des Valente, aber auch dunkle rote Kirsche, Pflaume, Rauch, Menthol, Anis und wilde Blumen. Sehr betörend mit einer erdigen Frische. Am Gaumen mittelgewichtig und sehr schön weich und harmonisch. Dunkle Früchte und dazu Anklänge von süßem Tabak, schwarzem Tee und Salbei. Gewürzaromen, Orangenschale und viel getrocknete Chiliflocken runden das Ganze im Finish ab. Hier gibt es viel zu entdecken und mögen, ein spannender Wein. 94-95/100

-- Parker: This is a pure expression of Sangiovese that punches above its weight with an almost Brunello-like intensity. The color and the tannic weight here is more prominent than in most Sangioveses, however, that unique coastal Tuscany character is always there with rosemary and Mediterranean shrub. Dark and fully concentrated, the 2017 Poggio Valente offers chalky notes followed by blackberry and black cherry. I love the harmony and the seamless nature of the bouquet. There is a note of sweetness on the close. This is a terrific, medium to full bodied Sangiovese. 94/100

-- Galloni: The 2017 Poggio Valente is rich and explosive in the glass. Black cherry, plum, chocolate, licorice and spice are kicked up a few notches in this decidedly exuberant Sangiovese. I would prefer to drink the 2017 on the early side, while it retains the youthful opulence that makes it so indulgent to enjoy now. The 2017 spent two years in oak, mostly 500 and 600 liters. 93/100
