Lobenberg: Petite Sirah ist eine Kreuzung aus Peloursin und Syrah und wurde vermutlich bereits Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts nach Kalifornien gebracht. Ridge zaubert daraus einen tintig dunklen Rotwein, der überraschend feines Tannin aufweist, fast samtig-burgundisch daherkommt. Das Bouquet ist erdig, ja auch ein wenig rauchig mit Aromen von getrockneten Pflaumen, Brombeeren und Kakaobohnen. Sicher ein Wein, der über die nächsten 10 Jahre getrunken immense Freude bereitet. Seine weiche Tanninstruktur erlaubt den frühen Genuss! 93-94/100

The palate is full, concentrated and firm but offers great freshness and fruit detail in the mouth, and it finishes very long and layered. It's approachable now if you love a big red, but it will also age well in the cellar. 3,500 cases produced. 93/100

This dark-fruited, ripe, smoky wine has full-bodied richness, a rounded, opulent texture, good acidity, loads of currant and chocolate blue fruits, and a great finish. It picks up a chalky minerality with time in the glass and, despite being a big, rich wine, it has a terrific sense of freshness. It's going to evolve nicely for 10-15 years. 92/100
