Lobenberg: Vielleicht der europäischste Syrah Napas. In kleinen, offenen 500-Liter-Holzfässern mit natürlicher Hefe vergoren. Aus winzigsten Erträgen organisch bearbeiteter Weinberge aus Lee Hudsons Weinberg im kühlen Carneros. Wie so typisch für John Kongsgaard extrem saftig, üppig, fruchtiger als ein Hermitage, aber in seiner Mineralität und Textur sehr ähnlich. Die saftige Version eines Hermitage, der Wein macht richtig Spaß. Aber er braucht viel Luft in der Karaffe und kann auch sehr schön in der Flasche im Keller nachreifen. Nimmt man sich diese Zeit, so bekommt man ein großes Erlebnis geschenkt. 97-100/100

-- Parker: Kongsgaard also makes an amazing Syrah from a clone he obviously knows a lot about, because it does remind one of a great Côte-Rôtie such as Guigal’s La Landonne. Both the 2014 and 2013 are just loaded with notes of beef blood, grilled steak, raw beef, chocolate, asphalt, truffle and black olive tapenade. The 2013 has even more body and richness, and is a dead ringer for a great Côte-Rôtie from Guigal, especially one with no Viognier in it. It is pure meat, blood and black fruits. Drink it over the next 15-20 years, although I found it irresistible when I tasted it. 98/100

-- Galloni: The 2013 Syrah Hudson Vineyard is distinguished by its interplay of power, opulence and breadth. Black cherry, bittersweet chocolate, espresso, licorice and plums build to the imposing, brooding finish. A huge, intense wine, the 2013 possesses striking richness, depth and pure, explosive energy, but it is also going to require at least a few years of cellaring, as it is incredibly forbidding at this stage. 97/100

-- Falstaff: Tiefdunkles Rubingranat, opaker Kern, violette Reflexe, zarter Wasserrand. Minze und Schokolade, intensive Gewürznote, ätherisch-tabakige Anklänge, verführerisch und komplex, schwarze Beerenfrucht, zupackende Tannine, extraktsüße Frucht, Lakritze und Nougat im Nachhall, mineralisch, Riesenpotenzial. 97/100
