Lobenberg: Der unglaublich rare Chardonnay von Ric Forman erzielt regelmäßig Spitzenbewertungen bei Parker und anderen Topbewertern. Die Trauben stammen aus den eigenen Weinbergen am Howell Mountain, eine der Spitzenlagen für Chardonnay in Napa. Das perfekte Traubenmaterial wird im ganzen gepresst und anschließend für 9 Monate in Barrique aus dem Burgund ausgebaut, davon 7 Monate auf der Hefe. Die malolaktische Gärung wurde, ganz im klassischen Stil von Forman, blockiert. Das lässt die Apfelsäure schön lebendig bleibe. Der Chardonnay entwickelt eine ausdrucksstarke Mineralität, die mit dem Alter noch zunehmen wird. Von der Stilistik erinnert er mich an einen Meursault: Tonnen von Steinobst, Birnen und Gesteinsmehl. Frisches Obst ohne jeglichen Anklang von Überreife. Perfekt eingebundendes Holz. Enegiegeladen und extrem fokussiert. Es ist ein rassiges Baby, das sich noch viele Jahre entwicklen wird. 95/100

-- Parker: The Forman Chardonnay is 100% barrel-fermented, sees 10% new oak, but is never put through malolactic. The superb 2013 Chardonnay offers lots of minerality along with notions of white peaches, spring flowers, orange blossoms and poached pears. With loads of fruit, great acid and finesse, and only a hint of oak in the flavor profile, this medium to full-bodied, gorgeous Chardonnay can be enjoyed over the next 5-6 years. 94/100

-- Galloni: Ric Forman's 2013 Chardonnay is striking. Lemon oil, white flowers, oyster shells and mint all open up in a wine that brings a little more textural depth to the signature Forman style built on tension and energy. The 2013 is impeccable. It's as simple as that. 94/100

-- John Gilman: Ric Forman has been making superb chardonnay for decades and decades, but his 2012looks likely to be one of his very finest of his career. The wine was raised in ten percent newwood, has its malolactic blocked and tips the scales at a very civilized 13.5 percent alcohol. The bouquet is deep, pure and complex, jumping from the glass in a mélange of apple, tangerine, pear, a complex base of soil, musky floral overtones and a deft touch of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and supremely elegant in personality, with lovely mid-palate depth, crisp acids and excellent length and grip on the focused and very refined finish. Great juice that is drinking superbly out of the blocks, but should also age quite well. 2014-2025+. 94/100
