Lobenberg: Ein reinsortiger Sousao, autochton aus dem Norden Portugals und dem Süden des spanischen Galicien. 50 Jahre alte Reben, Buschwein, Handarbeit, nur 1000 Flaschen werden erzeugt. Moderater Alkohol, im gebrauchten Barrique ausgebaut. Vollfarbig, helles blutrot mit schwarzen und rosafarbenen Reflexen. So intensiv und zugleich spielerisch leicht in der Nase, dass saure Himbeere und ein Blaubeer-Brombeer-Kirsch-Mix die erste Assoziation ist. Sauerkirsche schwingt auch mit. Insgesamt eher leichtgewichtig und verspielt mit seidiger Tanninstruktur und moderat salziger Mineralik. Eine leichte, tänzelnde Schönheit und ein komplexes Unikat mit Alleinstellungsmerkmal. 93-94/100

-- Parker: The 2017 é Sousão ou será vinhão (meaning 'Is it Sousão or Vinhão?,' referencing the alternative grape names used in Douro and Vinho Verde) was sourced from 50+-year-old vines. It was aged in new French oak for 11 months and comes in at 13.5% alcohol, a notable uptick in this big vintage. Whew. This is just bursting with flavor, particularly strawberries and raspberries. If there were such a thing as the flavor police, they'd have to arrest this wine! Then, it has rather good structure too, decent concentration and some power on the finish. Since it is Sousão, it avoids being too candied—there is good acidic support for the fruit, without the unpleasant tartness some can get. Some of the flavor is, alas, new wood, but it folds into the whole fairly fast. This looks like the best yet in the brand. It has some chance of further improvement too. There were 2,266 bottles produced from 25-year-old vines in Cima Corgo. 93/100
