Lobenberg: 2022 aus der Privatreserve des Chateau nachgekauft, der Wein hat sich bei perfekter Lagerung grandios entwickelt, 2007 war eben auch ein grandioses Jahr, viel besser als damals von mir probiert. In der Nase deutet sich die Fruchtsüße der alten Grenache bereits an. Dahinter ein Hauch von Marzipan und Dörrobst. Am Gaumen changiert er zwischen Fülle und Eleganz hin und her. Doch vom Körper her müsste man ihn zu den robusteren Chateauneufe rechnen, der hohe Mourvedre-Anteil wird hier zum Tragen gekommen sein. Die Fruchtaromen sind noch etwas verschlossen, doch Pflaume, Sandelholz und Trüffel sind schon zu identifizieren. Ein klassischer und großer Chateauneufe in der immer sehr eigenständigen Beaucastel-Typizität mit dieser speziellen Mourvedre-Dominanz und vollem Körper, tief verführerischem Abgang und immensem Potential. 97+/100

-- Jeb Dunnuck: A straight up, phenomenal wine, this bottle of 2007 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape was double decanted (poured into a decanter and then back into the bottle) 12 hours prior to drinking and boasted gorgeous aromatics (blackberry, cassis, lavender, garrigue and roasted meat), full bodied power, serious concentration and unreal purity. Very polished and almost civilized by Beaucastel standards, this beauty should drink beautifully for 3 decades. Wow. 96+/100

-- Parker: Beaucastel’s 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape has turned out even better out of bottle than I predicted. An inky/ruby/purple color is followed by a glorious nose of blue and black fruits, truffles, pen ink, licorice, and meat juices as well as glorious levels of acidity and sweet tannin, buttressing the fruit’s fabulous freshness and vibrancy. This full-bodied effort still displays considerable tannin, no doubt because of the relatively high Mourvedre content. It should resolve its tannins in 2-4 years, and last for 25 or more. 96/100

-- Wine Spectator: Extremely dense, with layer upon layer of melted fig, mulled boysenberry and black currant fruit, all laced with notes of charred mesquite, hoisin sauce and Kenya AA coffee. The long, silky mouthfeel belies the latent power in reserve-and there's a lot of it, with waves of grip driving the finish. Best from 2010 through 2030. 96/100

-- Falstaff: Zart animalisch angehauchte Würze, süßes schwarzes Beerenconfit, Noten von Trockenkröäutern, im Hintergrund florale Nuancen, etwas Lakritze und Vanille. Sehr saftig, Anklänge von reifen Pflaumen, komplex dank voll ausgereifter Tannine, lebendig strukturiert, mineralischer Touch im Abgang, bleibt lange und süß haften, dunkle Beerenfrucht im Rückgeschmack, beginnt sich bereits gut zu entfalten, verfügt über eine überzeugende Länge. 96/100

-- Wine Cellar Insider: With just 20 minutes in the decanter, the nose sprung from the glass with its aromas of kirsch liqueur, fresh market herbs, earth, plum jam and fennel. Supple in texture, with a long, rich, lush, ripe, red and black fruit filled, peppery finish, this was the perfect wine to get an early jump on our pre International Grenache day celebration. 96/100
