Tim Atkin über: Cabernet Sauvignon Stellenbosch

-- Tim Atkin: It's surely no coincidence that Boekenhoutskloof moved into its swanky new cellar in 2018, as the quality of most of its wines has gone up a notch. This comes from two excellent growers on the Helderberg and is wonderfully focused, layered and complex with some underlying grip, blackcurrant leaf top notes and some seasoning from 5% Cabernet Franc. 96/100

Decanter über: Cabernet Sauvignon Stellenbosch

-- Decanter: Claret fans will love this restrained, cool, mineral-laden wine made from selected parcels on the Helderberg's decomposed granite soils. This, the fifth vintage, includes 5% Cabernet Franc, which adds attractive violet and herb tones to the focused dark black berry, cassis and pencil-lead flavours, backed by fine-grained tannins, minty-fresh acidity and gentle oak spice. Gorgeously elegant and ageworthy. As with the Franschhoek Cabernet, it is aged 22 months in lightly toasted barriques, but here only 60% new. 95/100

Mein Winzer

Boekenhoutskloof
