Heiner Lobenberg über:
Vintage Port 2018

97–98+
/100

Wine Enthusiast über: Vintage Port

-- Wine Enthusiast: While this vintage was not generally declared by all producers, it has resulted in some very fine Ports from the great quintas. This is grandiloquently rich, layering thick tannins with dense black fruits. The texture is full and outwardly rounded—the result of the stone lagar fermentation—but underneath it is impressively structured. 97/100

Wine Spectator über: Vintage Port

-- Wine Spectator: Juicy and wiry, with tension in its display of raspberry, blackberry and plum pâte de fruit notes thanks to riveting underlying acidity, this drives along with great cut, ending with a flourish of anise, bramble and juniper. Feels pretty tight too, so bank on this needing a little extra time. Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca, Tinta Amarela and Sousão. Best from 2032 through 2050. 360 cases made, 108 cases imported. 95/100

Parker über: Vintage Port

-- Parker: The 2018 Vintage Port, bottled in July 2020, is a blend of Touriga Franca (60%), Touriga Nacional (20%) and other traditional grapes for the rest, aged for 12 months in 100% chestnut vats this year. It comes in with 90 grams of residual sugar. On the heels of a great performance in 2017 comes another winner this year. With lifted fruit, this finishes fresh and lively but with silky texture and plenty of flavor. It's on the drier side, but very expressive. It never seems too lean, only elegant. A couple of days later, it shows off its pure power too and a certain flavor profile that has hints of dried, unsweetened caramels. This is a beauty, as this estate is making a statement these days for its Ports. It has plenty of room to improve in the cellar, and it could really use a decade or so in the cellar. There were just 4,400 bottles produced. 94/100
