Sancerre Blanc Les Romains
-- Katalog: -- Parker: Tasting several barrels and the foudre of Vacheron 2011 Sancerre Les Romains as well as an approximation to the final assemblage finds them collectively caressing, at times even creamy, with coriander, mint, and subtle suggestions of bittersweet floral perfume accenting lush and luscious Persian melon and pineapple that mingle with toasty nut oils and saliva-inducing shrimp shell reduction in a soothing finish. And that crustacean savor was especially evident in the portion tasted from wooden upright, which represents far and away the majority of this wine’s total volume. This richly fruit-forward yet already complexly nuanced and enticingly mineral and carnal rendition of its site – as fine as any I’ve tasted (and there are few if any other 2011s about which I’d be tempted to make such a claim) – is going to be gorgeous on release and should show well for at least 3-4 years thereafter. 91-92/100
