Lobenberg: Farbe schwarz, Nase schwarz, Mund schwarz. Dem Namen entsprechend, eine Quelle an Schwarz! Die Nase ist berauschend schön. Kirsche, Veilchen, Süßholz, Pflaume, Cassis, Cranberries. Und dieser Wein ist nur der Einstieg in die Saint-Joseph-Welt. Fantastisch. Schon hier sehr druckvoll und schiebend. Kraftvoll aber auch mit dem Hauch Erotik. Der Mund beginnt wahnsinnig muskulös. Satte Power, volle schwarze Frucht und üppige Fülle. Aber dann sofort hinterhergeschossen eine unfassbare Mineralität und Salzigkeit. Wow. So viel Frische und Finesse kommt etwas unerwartet, gerade für 2018. Schwarze Kirsche, schwarze Johannisbeere und diese feine Syrah-Lakritze. Ein fulminantes Tannin, nichts grün, nur fein geschliffen, fast seidig. Die Säure liefert Struktur und Frische. Die Salzigkeit rollt immer wieder hoch, irre. Hier ist alles intensiv, alles ist in Harmonie. Und nochmal, es ist erst der Einstieg. Mega viel Wein für sehr faires Geld. 94/100

Violets and purple raspberries adorn the nose, while the full-bodied palate shows off silky tannins, a sense of stony reserve and a long, licorice-tinged finish. 91-93/100

This classy, complex effort offers lots of spring flowers, new leather, and black raspberry notes as well as medium-bodied richness, good acidity, and light, yet present tannins. It's a pretty, balanced, well-made wine to enjoy over the coming 5-7 years. 90-92/100
