Heiner Lobenberg über:
Saint Joseph 2016

95–96
/100

Lobenberg: Extrem eleganter Saint Soseph aus 3 Lagen. Mineralisch, seidig, spielerisch mit vibrierendem Unterton. Sehr Beerig, trotz der Eleganz viel Druck. 95-96/100

Suckling über: Saint Joseph

-- Suckling: Super floral. Violets, fragrant and fine-ground white peppers, dark plums and black stones, spices and dark chocolate notes too. The palate has finesse, detail, power and impressive balance. There’s a plump red-fruited core that is really muscular. Expansive body building to an astutely balanced and elegant finish. Graphite to close. Brilliant. Barrel Sample. 95-96/100

Galloni über: Saint Joseph

-- Galloni: Opaque ruby. Powerful, mineral-tinged aromas of blackberry, boysenberry, candied flowers, olive and licorice, along with a smoky overtone that builds in the glass. Stains the palate with sweet, energetic black/blue fruit, violet pastille and spicecake flavors that show outstanding purity and mineral-drive. The spice and floral notes repeat emphatically on a strikingly long, lively finish that's shaped by velvety, even tannins. 94/100

Jeb Dunnuck über: Saint Joseph

-- Jeb Dunnuck: I tasted multiple barrels destined for the 2016 Saint Joseph, a vintage that’s liked quite a bit by Jean-Louis. All the barrel samples showed terrific depth of fruit, darker, smoky, meaty nuances, lots of minerality, with the purity and elegance of the vintage front and center. I tasted barrels from Le Clos as well as Beshesson, but I’m not sure if they’ll be released as stand-alone cuvees. If so, both are brilliant wines you should snatch up. 92-94/100

Parker über: Saint Joseph

-- Parker: I tasted several parcels that will go into the 2016 Saint Joseph, rating them all in this range. All were distinctive in their own ways, from the perfumed, floral notes and elegance of Les Challeys to the almost jammy cherry flavors of Les Oliviers and the dark-fruited precision of Le Clos. 92-94/100

Wine Spectator über: Saint Joseph

-- Wine Spectator: Alluring, with black tea and singed alder hints curling around a core of gently steeped black cherry and blackberry flavors. The very silky and refined structure carries the fruit through a beguiling finish, while olive, sanguine, iron and savory hints peek in. 95/100

Mein Winzer

Jean Louis Chave
