Heiner Lobenberg über:
Vintage Port 2017

98–100
/100

Parker über: Vintage Port

-- Parker: The 2017 Pintas Vintage Port is a field blend from old vines coming in with 100 grams of sugar and 21% alcohol. Bottled just two days before being tasted, this will still be scored with a range, considering how powerful it is. This is one of the many small producers that is making a statement in Port these days, proving that you don't have to be a giant with a centuries-old brand in order to make great Port. This is brilliant, and a powerhouse. Dense, showing flavorful fruit and waves of tannins, it is muscular and precise. The finish is very long and gripping and then turns drier as it airs out. Despite the muscle, its fruit refuses to be intimidated. It's delicious even today. It will eventually become complex, but it is missing nothing else, and only age can supply that complexity. Many will still consider Wine & Soul to be a table wine producer and Pintas Port to be a sleeper, but the hand with Port here is increasingly sure. This looks like their best one ever, which is saying something at this point in the winery's history. This 2017 should take its place with the greats of the vintage. 97-99/100
