Lobenberg: Aus einer 2.8 Hektar großen Einzellage namens Las Cruces im Cachapoal Valley. Die Reben sind 1957 gepflanzt, drei Viertel Malbec und der Rest Camenere im Mischsatz. Der Weinberg wird nicht bewässert. Alles wird zusammen geerntet und vergoren, dann für zwei Jahre im 5000 Liter Fass ausgebaut. Satte violette Farbe und ebenso intensiv und reich ist das Parfüm dieses Weines aus dem mediterranen Maipo Valley. Süße Maulbeere, Blaubeere, Pflaume, Lebkuchen und Zimt geben eine schöne süße Würze dazu, auch Lakritze, Veilchen, Holunder und Tropenhölzer. Obwohl die Nase intensiv, süß und reich ist, wirkt sie nicht üppig oder gekocht, sondern gewissermaßen elegant und feinduftig. Der Mund hat etwas erfrischendes und kühles in seiner alles einnehmenden, duftigen, süßen Fruchtkern von blauen Waldbeeren und satter Schwarzkirsche, die von süßen Gewürzen und feinen Hölzern unterlegt ist. Viel roter Pfeffer im Nachhall, hier kommt die Carmenere durch. Ultrafeine Tannine rahmen den minzig-kühlen Abgang ein und tragen die beschwingte Frucht Richtung Unendlichkeit. 95+/100

-- Tim Atkin: Las Cruces is a 70/30 blend of Malbec and Carmenère from a single 1957 block in Pichidegua. The heat of the vintage doesn't show at all here, thanks to the quality of the site and the vines' established root system. Fine, detailed and perfumed, with lots of freshness and focus and notes of cut grass and violet, blackberry and red cherry fruit and a core of acidity. 2023-29. 95/100

This is quite elegantly rendered, with a natural expression of juicy red and blue fruit on the palate, rounded by smooth, velvety tannins. Long. All about fruit. Malbec and carmenere. -- Parker: The combination of floral notes from the Malbec and the spicy and herbal ones from Carmenere (approximately 25%) work quite well in the 2019 Las Cruces Old Vine Series, produced with grapes from a field blend planted in Cachapoal in 1957 on granite soils. The grapes are organically farmed but not certified. It fermented in stainless steel with indigenous yeasts and matured in a 2,500-liter oak foudre and a couple of used barriques for 15 months. It has moderate alcohol (13.5%) and ripeness and mellow acidity. All these wines are medium-bodied and have fine tannins. 3,695 bottles and 60 magnums were filled in February 2020. 94/100

-- Galloni: The 2019 Blend Old Vine Series Las Cruces is a blend of Malbec with 30% Carménère, planted in Pichidegua, Cachapoal Valley, and aged for 5 months in barrels and 14 months in foudres. Purple in the glass. The nose presents notes of plum and ash with hints of dried flowers. The palate shows firm structure and polished tannins, while the clay soils ensure good body. A lithe, muscular red. 93/100
