Lobenberg

Lobenberg über:
Napa Cabernet 2011

96-97+/100

Napa Cabernet 2011

-- Katalog: -- Parker: Espresso, savory herbs, crushed flowers and sweet red berries are some of the notes that emerge from the 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon. One of the softer, more elegant wines of the year, the 2011 stands out for its balance and overall sense of poise. The 2011 is a wine of notable purity and finesse, especially in the quality of the tannins, where so many wines fall short in this vintage. A sensual, perfumed finish rounds things out nicely in this mid-weight, gracious Cabernet Sauvignon. 92-94/100

Napa Cabernet 2011

-- Internet: -- John Gilman: While 2011 is generally a cooler year in northern California, Lisa and Philip Togni noted that they had essentially the same ripeness level in this vintage as they normally have, as the wine came in a bit under fourteen percent in alcohol. They achieved this by waiting until the very end of October and simply waiting through the rain that rolled through Napa in late September. The wine has turned out very well indeed, offering up a deep and cooler fruit nose of cassis, a youthful touch of bell pepper, tobacco leaf, a lovely base of soil, currant leaf and a deft framing of toasty oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and quite tightly-knit out of the blocks, with a fine core, ripe tannins, lovely focus and balance and a very long, promising finish. This will be lovely, but give it its customary fifteen to twenty years in the cellar to start to stir from slumber. 2025-2060+. 92+/100 -- Galloni: Pine, menthol, savory herbs, licorice, dark cherry and plum notes emerge from the 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon. With time in the glass, the 2011 fleshed out beautifully while retaining a classic, mid-weight profile. My sense is that the 2011 will develop along the lines of the 1994, a wine that remains distinctly floral, savory and medium in body, with less of the explosiveness of years such as 1985 or 1997, but with tons of class and style. It is going to be interesting to find out. The 2011 was bottled just a few months ago, so I will not be surprised if it shows even better than this note suggests with time. In 2011, the fruit came in a whole month later than normal. 94/100
