Heiner Lobenberg über:
Oakville 2021

-- Jeb Dunnuck: Lastly, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville may be the finest wine I've tasted from this estate, although the 2016 might have something to say about that. Ripe blackcurrants, fresh blue fruits, huge minerality, full-bodied richness, a dense, concentrated mid-palate, and incredibly pure notes of chocolate, loamy earth, tobacco, and lead pencil all define this sensational Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon. The tannin quality as well as the overall balance are just about off the charts. This warrants 4-5 years in the cellar and will have 2-3 decades of overall longevity.

Suckling über: Oakville

-- Suckling: The red fruit and tile aromas with terra-cotta come through clearly here. Then there’s sage and bark with cedar undertones. Leaves, too. Then turns to blue fruits. Full body with lovely tannins that are velvety and energetic from the underlying acid and earth character. Excellent finish. Drink after 2028.

Galloni über: Oakville

-- Galloni: The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville soars out of the glass. Inky dark cherry, gravel, licorice, graphite and chocolate saturate the palate. Vertical, dense and explosive, the 2021 is wonderfully deep and expressive. There's plenty of Oakville Ranch tannin, but it is so well-balanced.

Decanter über: Oakville

-- Decanter: This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon features big, round, silky, and lush blackberry flavours with sagebrush nuances and dark chocolate. It is full-bodied with a rich, dense black and blue fruit core, complemented by tantalising acidity. Dazzling in its opulence, it is perfectly balanced by superb, fine-grained tannins and bright minerality. Favia is the project of husband and wife duo viticulturist Annie Favia and winemaker Andy Erickson. The wines are offered on Place de Bordeaux.

Lisa Perrotti Brown über: Oakville

-- Lisa Perrotti Brown: Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville comes barreling out with bold notions of crushed blackcurrants, fresh blackberries, and black raspberries leading to hints of sassafras, spearmint, and underbrush plus a hint of pencil lead. The full-bodied palate vibrates with intense, energetic black fruits, supported by firm, grainy tannins and plenty of freshness, finishing long and minerally.

Colin Hay über: Oakville

-- Colin Hay: The smallest traditionally of the production of these three wines, but there is a new vineyard bordering Opus One that will increasingly provide fruit for this. At 900 feet of elevation, close to Screaming Eagle. The most notably sunny of these, and in a way that accentuates the sense of lift. But you notice that less as the wine breathes in the oxygen and relaxes. Iron minerality. Very Cabernet Sauvignon and very Napa. Beadier tannins, glassier and less pointy, but they build and build towards the finish. A little notes of iris. The hint of hyacinth bulb that I also find in the Coombsville wine. Dark berry fruit, a little plum and a touch of black cherry. Walnut shell. This is very chewy and a little unresolved on the finish, but that just means it needs longer. Impressively sapid on the finish, with the tannins gathering just as they start to hint at dryness before a final release of juicy freshness. Excellent. More obviously a vin de garde.
