Sauvignon Blanc Buxus Epesses Grand Cru
-- Parker: The 2022 Epesses Grand Cru Sauvignon Buxus is from a terraced vineyard planted with 9,000 vines per hectare on the gravelly soils, with a yield of no more than 0.7 kilograms per plant. Aged in barrels for 10 months, the wine opens with a pure, intense and spicy bouquet that indicates mineral depth and the specific terroir, which is incomparable to any other regions but the Lavaux and combines plenty of sunshine hours. The 2022 is rich but elegant and juicy, well structured with fine tannins and the energy from this terroir. There is even some sensual sweetness toward the finish, which adds Swiss charm and makes this a substantial, dense, intense and sustainable grand cru with a structurally long, saline and aromatic finish. Next to the 2019, this is possibly the finest Sauvignon that I have tasted from Louis-Philippe Bovard, who introduced the (white wine) region to grape varieties such as Sauvignon and Chenin Blanc but also Syrah and Merlot. Try this Sauvignon with a matured Gruyère, seafood or curries. 14.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted in February 2024.
