Lobenberg: Die Nase ist dicht, die Aromen drängen sich förmlich. Als erstes ist Marzipan zu identifizieren, dahinter warten dann aber massive dunkle Früchte, die ob ihrer Fülle einer Entzifferung bedürfen. Am Gaumen strahlt er sofort eine tolle Homogenität aus, saftig aber auch weich und füllig. Dabei ist er nicht fett, er zeichnet sich durch einen delikaten Gaumenfluss aus. Bleibt lange haften, hierfür dürften die präsenten polierten Tannin verantwortlich sein. In Rückhall wieder dunkle Früchte, Brombeere, Kräuter der Provence, ein wenig Schokolade und eine strahlende innere Balance. 93-94/100

-- Jeb Dunnuck: I think unquestionably the greatest vintage for this cuvée to date is the 2016 Côtes du Rhône Villages Plan de Dieu Calendal. Coming from well know Oenologist Philippe Cambie’s own label and a blend of 70% Grenache and 30% Mourvèdre, it offers a refined, beautifully pure bouquet of black raspberries, cassis, crushed flowers, and spice. Full-bodied, elegant and silky, with a level of polish and elegance lacking in prior vintages, it has integrated acidity (a hallmark of the vintage), ripe tannin and a blockbuster finish. It’s already hard to resist, but it going to continue dishing out loads of pleasure for at least a decade. 95/100

-- Parker: --Parker: Always a value and well-known Rhône oenologist Philippe Cambie’s own label, the 2015 Côtes du Rhône Villages Plan de Dieu Calendal is a blockbuster blend of 70% Grenache and 30% Mourvèdre that offers full-bodied, rich, even decadent notes of cassis, crushed flowers, licorice and hints of vanilla bean. It has a killer mid-palate, sweet tannin and a big finish, all of which make it just about impossible to resist. Still, it should keep nicely for at least 5-7 years. 94/100
