Lobenberg: Das ist das von Nicolas Thienpont geleitete und von Stéphane Derenoncourt vinifizierte Weingut auf dem oberen Plateau unterhalb von Troplong Mondot gelegen. 85% Merlot und 15% Cabernet Franc. Nach den Enttäuschungen oder doch Fragezeichen bei Clos Fourtet und Larcis-Ducasse und Berliquet endlich ein Traum in der Nase. So wunderschön weiche, schwarze Kirsche, burgundisch in der Feinheit. Hier dann endlich auch süßes Fruchtfleisch, schon die Nase mit leichtem Rauch, Olive. All das unterstützt die feine schwarze Kirsche. Ein Hauch Praline dazu. Das ist echt fein. Der Mund kann diese extreme Feinheit und Dichte der Nase nicht ganz halten. Hier kommen auch ein paar spröde, karge Elemente dazu. Man merkt, dass es doch kein Riesenjahr ist hier auf Pavie Macquin. Der Wein zeigt schöne Frische, Salz, Mineralik, aber nie Grünes, sondern immer schön seidig-tänzelnd bleibend. Kein großer Pavie Macquin, aber zumindest, zusammen mit Canon La Gaffellière in der dritten Reihe der Stars der Appellation bleibend. 94+/100

-- Galloni: The 2014 Pavie Macquin is just as sensual from bottle as it was from barrel. Silky, gracious and expressive, the 2014 has it all. Black cherry, plum, smoke, mocha and a host of dark-toned flavors all blossom in the glass. The 2014 offers a striking combination of power and finesse, with plenty of power to burn. This is another unqualified success from estate manager Nicolas Thienpont and winemaker David Suire. The blend is 85 % Merlot, 14 % Cabernet Franc and 1 % Cabernet Sauvignon. 96/100

Fruit and density are so impressive, yet this is so linear on the center palate, which gives it direction and focus. Fabulous. Better than 2009? Drink in 2022, but hard not to drink now. 96/100
