Lobenberg: 90% Cabernet, 10% Merlot. Die Ernte war am 10. Oktober beendet. Moderate 13,5% Alkohol. Schwarz. Frische Zwetschge mit Sternanis in der Nase, satte schwarze Kirsche, Maracuja, asiatische Gewürze, Orangenschale und Pfirsich. Sehr intensiver Mund, satte Brombeere, etwas bittere Blaubeere, viel frische Zwetschge, ungemein wuchtig. Polierte Tanninmassen, weich und üppig, rassige Säure daneben, wie schon der Zweitwein etwas holprig, kann vor Kraft kaum laufen, dennoch sehr imposant und eindrucksvoll. Ein sehr reifer und köstlicher Pauillac, voluminös, wie sonst nur Cos d’Estournel im Medoc, ein leckerer Blockbuster. 100/100

-- Parker: Deep garnet colored, the 2009 Latour is unashamedly youthful with bold blackcurrants, black cherries and warm plums notes plus nuances of cedar chest, aniseed, beef drippings, truffles and tapenade with a waft of tilled black soil. Full, concentrated and powerful in the mouth, it has a rock-solid frame of super ripe, grainy tannins and fantastic freshness, finishing very long and wonderfully minerally. Just a baby—this needs time! 100/100

-- Weinwisser: Sattes dichtes Purpur-Granat mit lila Reflexen. Klares, verhaltenes, feines statt mächtiges Bouquet, zuerst fein milchig, dann rahmig, dann sehr reife Brombeeren, parfümiertes Cassis, feinste Edelhölzer und eine besonders zarte Zedernholznote, die sonst eher dem Ducru vorbehalten ist. Perfekter, stilsicherer Gaumen, alles ist an seinem Ort, der Wein ist völlig auf die Reife des Cabernets ausgerichtet, königliche Adstringenz, ein zarter Hauch Karamell. Zweifellos ein ganz grosser Latour, aber irgendwie vermisse ich die brachiale Genialität von früher. Kommt, bei beginnender Reife, der Trüffel noch? Die Tiefe des Terroirs? Die dunklen Steinpilze und frisch gehackten Kräuter? Die Minze? Wird es ein Latour wie früher? Oder zollt man hier der Perfektion des heutigen, jedes Detail betrachtenden 'Quality-Managements' Tribut? Die Zeit wird es erweisen – auch wenn nur Wenige zu Zeugen werden dürften, denn dieser Latour wird nicht nur teuer, sondern so richtig extrem teuer. 20/20

-- Suckling: A breathtaking combination of dried flowers and minerals, with dark fruits such as currants and blackberries. Full-bodied, with fabulous fruit concentration, yet its compacted. Velvety tannins. So much fruit and beauty. It's the quality of the tannins that are magic. It is the famous 1959 all over again. Amazing. 100/100

-- Jane Anson: Classic Pauillac power and finesse, packed with brambled fruits, hedgerow earthiness, exuberant while being controlled and carefully delivered. This has shoulders and backbone, and is impossible to ignore. Still in its primary phase so zero need to rush, but you are going to get more joy from this 2009 than you will with the 2010 vintage for at least the next five years. Penelope Godefroy vineyard director at the time, 100% new oak. Although they had not begun conversion at this point, things were moving in that direction - horses had been reintroduced within the vineyard as of 2008, and all chemical weedkillers had been stopped in the 1990s. The first biodynamic experiments took place in this vintage, but just over 3ha of vines. Still being sold En Primeur at the time, so relatively widely available. 100/100

-- Falstaff: Tiefdunkles Rubingranat, violette Reflexe, dezente Randaufhellung. Zart floral unterlegte kleine schwarze Beerenfrucht, ein Hauch von Edelholz, zart nach Nougat und Karamell, reifes Brombeer-Cassis-Konfit, tabakiger Touch, sehr facettenreiches Bukett. Komplex, kraftvoll, sehr saftig, vollreife Herzkirschen, tolle Extraktsüße, reife, tragende Tannine, zeigt bereits eine enorme Länge, wirkt kühl und frisch, mineralische Nuancen im Abgang, intensiv. 100/100

-- Lisa Perrotti Brown: A blend of 91.3% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8.7% Merlot, the opaque garnet-black colored 2009 Latour prances from the glass with showy notes of black cherry preserves, blueberry pie, and black currant jelly, leading to an undercurrent of camphor, clove oil, and cinnamon toast. The medium to full-bodied palate is decadently stacked with black and blue fruit layers, framed by super-plush tannins and jaw-dropping tension, culminating in a fragrant finish that just goes on and on. It’s flat-out delicious right now but promises to reward the patient. 100/100
