Lobenberg: Larcis Ducasse liegt untern an der Cote Pavie in der Nachbarschaft von Bellefont Belcier und Pavie. Also an den Südhängen des Kalksteinplateaus. Direktor ist Nicolas Thienpont, der auch Beausejour Duffau und Pavie Macquin verantwortet. Önologischer Berater ist Stephane Derenoncourt. Wow, was für eine Nase! Trotz hohem Merlotanteil eine wahnsinnige Dominanz der Cabernet Franc mit superreifer, extrem delikater, süßer Waldhimbeere, darunter ein klein wenig Erdbeere laufend, dann kommen sanfte rote und schwarze Kirsche, aber diese roten Waldfrüchte dominieren total, sind extrem charmant. Feine Süße, feine Blumigkeit dahinter, schon seidig aus dem Glas in die Nase strömend. Auch im Mund setzt sich dieses Leckerli fort, so feine rote Frucht, wieder diese Himbeere, Kirsche, ganz fein verwoben, ganz feine, helle Lakritze, Milchschokolade. Fast ein wenig Straßenstaub in dieser hellen Mineralik. Fein, lang und seidig, nichts tut weh und dennoch hat der Wein Struktur, der Wein ist konzentriert und lässt davon nichts spüren. Das ist das famose des Jahrgangs 2018. Ein superelegantes, feines, fruchtbetontes Konzentrat, das macht große Freude. 97-100/100

-- Jeb Dunnuck: The 2018 Château Larcis Ducasse checks in as 89% Merlot and 11% Cabernet Franc that comes from a gorgeous hillside terroir on the Côte Pavie, located between Château Pavie and Château Bellefont-Belcier. Aged 18 months in 60% new barrels, it offers a truly sensational bouquet of ripe blackcurrants, espresso roast, scorched earth, bloody meat, chocolate, iron, and bouquet garni. A massive, super-rich Saint-Emilion with a dense, concentrated, layered mouthfeel, it has building yet sweet tannins and incredible purity of fruit. Reminding me of the 2005 shortly after release, this heavenly juice offers astonishing richness and depth while staying flawlessly balanced and elegant. Sadly, there are less than 3,000 cases produced, but this monumental, legendary wine won't hit maturity for a good 8-10 years and will have 40-50 years of longevity if well stored. Hats off to Nicolas Thienpont and consultant Stéphane Derenoncourt for producing one of the wines of the vintage as well as one of the greatest young Bordeaux I've ever tasted. 100/100

-- Quarin: Couleur rouge sombre. Bonne intensité, belle, pourpre. Nez intense, fin, fruité, pur, mûr et épicé. Moelleux à l’attaque, fondant au développement, très parfumé, juteux, sèveux, complexe et même noble, le vin glisse longtemps en finale. C’est superbe. Pourrait voir sa note monter en fin d'élevage. 97/100

-- Galloni: The 2018 Larcis Ducasse is one of the real overachievers of the vintage. Richness and classicism meld together in a Saint-Émilion that dazzles from the very first taste. Rich dark fruit, mocha, licorice, espresso and leather all open in the glass. Time brings out bright acids and that firm spice of Larcis tannin. More than that, though, Larcis impresses with its exquisite balance and class. It is easily one of the most undervalued wines on the Right Bank. Don't let its modest price fool you. Larcis is one the most compelling wines of the vintage. Don't miss it! 97/100

-- Parker: Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2018 Larcis Ducasse features wonderfully expressive scents of baked black and red plums, kirsch, rose hip tea and cigar box with hints of pencil shavings, baked redcurrants and truffles plus a waft of licorice. Full-bodied and beautifully nuanced on the palate, it has layer upon layer of red and black fruit preserves with beautiful, velvety tannins and loads of freshness, finishing long and perfumed. 96-98/100

-- Gerstl: Der Duft beeindruckt, irre Konzentration, enorme Tiefe, grosse Fülle. Am Gaumen ein kleines Monster, immense Konzentration, für meinen Geschmack ist da von allem etwas zu viel, aber es ist ein grosser Wein, auch wenn er meinen Geschmack nicht trifft. 19/20

Chateau Larcis Ducasse liegt am Hang von Saint Emilion und befindet sich seit über hundert Jahren im Besitz der Familie Gratiot. Das Gebiet von zehn Hektar besteht im oberen Hangbereich aus Lehm und Ton, im unteren Bereich aus eisenhaltigem Sand.
