Lobenberg: Larcis Ducasse liegt unten an der Cote Pavie, in der Nachbarschaft von Bellefont Belcier und Pavie – also an den Südhängen des Kalksteinplateaus. Direktor ist Nicolas Thienpont, der auch Beausejour Duffau und Pavie Macquin verantwortet. Önologischer Berater ist Stephane Derenoncourt. Also die Erfolgstory Saint-Emilions geht weiter. Larcis Ducasse ist häufig etwas charmanter als die beiden Riesen Beausejour Duffau und Pavie Macquin. Fast schwarz, ich erwarte jetzt fast nur schwarze Frucht und werde überrascht von einer unglaublich drückenden Walderdbeer-Nase. So süß, so viel Himbeere darunter. Erst dann kommt schwarze Kirsche. Zwar auch Brombeere, aber ganz stark im Hintergrund. Der Mund setzt das fort. Das ist ja echt erstaunlich, dass Larcis Ducasse 2017 gar nicht so fett rüberkommt wie befürchtet. Gar nicht so schwarz, lakritzig, sondern im Gegenteil. Himbeere, Walderdbeere, Flieder. Alles fein verwoben. Zwar ein gut stützender schwarzfruchtiger Mittelteil, butterweiche Tannine, aber insgesamt frischer und rassiger als erwartet. 93-95/100

-- Galloni: The 2017 Larcis Ducasse is just as compelling from bottle as it was from barrel. Pliant and deep, with terrific fruit purity, Larcis possesses striking fruit purity and tons of resonance. Red cherry, blood orange, pomegranate, mint, spice, licorice and mocha infuse the 2017 with striking complexity as well as nuance. Readers will have a hard time keeping their hands off this gem. Larcis is never one of the most obvious wines in Saint-Émilion, but it is often among the most regal. Best of all, Larcis remains one of the best values anywhere in the world. 96/100

-- Parker: Composed of 97% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2.5% Merlot and 0.5% Petit Verdot, the 2017 Lafite Rothschild is deep garnet-purple colored. It opens slowly, cautiously with restrained notes of chocolate-covered cherries, mulberries, warm blackcurrants and wild blueberries, followed by emerging notions of smoked meats, fragrant earth, crushed rocks and lilacs with touches of cast-iron pan and Marmite toast. Medium-bodied, the palate is deceptively light and quite ethereal on entry, growing in the mouth to reveal elegant layers of energetic red and black fruits with tons of savory accents. Framed by exquisitely ripe, wonderfully fine-grained tannins, it has exhilarating freshness and a very long, hypnotically perfumed finish. On a final note, the alcohol here is a jaw-dropping 12.5%, which is something of a miracle considering the ripeness of the Cabernet. A total head-turner, I cannot wait to follow the development of this wine! 95/100

-- Gerstl: Im Duft erstaunlich verhalten, aber komplex, tiefgründig und mit edler Ausstrahlung. Im Vergleich mit Pavie-Macquin, wirkt der am Gaumen auch wesentlich ausgeglichener, vor allem betont er die frische Frucht, hat nichts überreifes, ich glaube ins Sachen Extraktion hat er gerade noch die Kurve gekratzt, die Tannine sind markannt aber gut von Fett umhüllt, die Konzentration ist enorm, aussergewöhnlich für der Jahrgang, er verliert dadurch etwas Charme, aber die Harmonie stimmt noch, er braucht sicher viel Zeit, hat aber das Potenzial zum grossen Wein. 19/20

Chateau Larcis Ducasse liegt am Hang von Saint Emilion und befindet sich seit über hundert Jahren im Besitz der Familie Gratiot. Das Gebiet von zehn Hektar besteht im oberen Hangbereich aus Lehm und Ton, im unteren Bereich aus eisenhaltigem Sand.
