Lobenberg: Extrem dunkles Rubinrot mit schwarzen Reflexen. Satte Nase nach viel schwarzer, leicht gekochter Frucht, unterlegt aber auch mit deutlicher roter Frucht. Schwarze Kirschen, Brombeere, Schokolade, frischer als La Mission. Viel Extrakt, Fett und Schmelz, aber anders als Mission durchaus klassische Noten. Satte weiche Tannine, nur leichte Bitterstoffe, besser balanciert und deutlich klassischer als Mission, sehr langer und intensiver Nachhall. 97-100

-- Parker: The blockbuster 2003 Haut-Brion (13% alcohol) possesses extremely high tannin, but that component is well-concealed by a cascade of mulberry, blackberry, cherry, and plum-like fruit. There is even a hint of figs under the blue and red fruit spectrum. While broad and ripe with a sweet, glyceral mouthfeel as well as a long, powerful, persistent finish, it retains its elegance and nobility. A wine of both power and finesse, it will benefit from 3-4 years of cellaring, and keep for 25-30. 95/100

-- Galloni: Brilliant pale straw-yellow color. Exotic aromas of peach and honeysuckle. Huge, thick and fat; less racy and aromatic than the 2004 but wonderfully dense and full and extremely long. Finishes with an almost tannic impression and surprising dryness. The 2004 and 2003 are like two different styles of white Burgundy, notes Jean-Philippe Delmas: 2004 is the minerally side of chardonnay while 2003 is the opulent side. Both of these young wines are splendid. 95/100
