Lobenberg: Sehr ausgewogene, eher schwarzfruchtige Nase. Fein, schwebend, sehr delikat und erhaben. Auch der Mund ist sehr stimmig. Butterweiche, polierte, seidige Tannine. Nichts tut weh. Sehr verspielt im Mund. Neben schwarzer Kirsche im Mund auch ein bisschen rote Kirsche, Sauerkirsche, Eukalyptus, helle Lakritze. Das passt sehr gut, ist komplex. Alles versehen mit einer schönen Länge. Nicht die allererste Reihe in Margaux, aber in sich sehr stimmig, lecker. Ein köstlicher Wein mit gewisser Größe und mit enormer Frische. 95-96/100

-- Gerstl: Den hätte ich beinahe verpasst, zum Glück habe ich noch rechtzeitig gemerkt, dass diese Notiz noch fehlt. Das ist der Duft ein grossen Brane, sagenhaft fein, aber überschwenglich reich und komplex, der präsentiert sich wie ein edler Margaux mit einem erotischen Hauch Pomerol gewürzt. Ein grosser Brane-Cantenac, kann einer der delikatesten Weine von Bordeaux sein und das ist er dieses Jahr in der Tat. Was ist das ein raffinierter Wein, wohl einer der raffiniertesten aller grossen 2016er, burgundisch fein, delikat frisch mit einer Extraktsüsse unterlegt, die edler nicht sein könnte, er ist einiges leichtgewichtger, als viele grosse 2016er, aber deswegen nicht weniger aromatisch, das ist eine kleine Sensation, der schmeckt so etwas von sagenhaft gut, ich bin hin und weg. 19+/20

-- Parker: The 2016 Brane-Cantenac is a blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc and 1% Carmenere picked from 22 September until 17 October (the tiny parcel of Carmenere picked three days later). The yields came in at 51 hectoliters per hectare and it is matured in 75% new oak and 25% one-year-old barrels, the final alcohol level 13.3%. It has a beautifully defined, very detailed bouquet with mineral-rich black fruit laced with cedar and graphite notes, living up to its nom de plume as the 'Pauillac of Margaux.' The palate is simply the best that I have ever tasted at the estate, without question. This has presence, but also weightlessness, filigree tannin and perfectly pitched acidity, with real intensity and drive. The tension here is outstanding and the persistence is incredibly long. It is not the showiest of all the 2016s by a long stretch, and yet it is everything you could possibly want from a Margaux. Like Beychevelle this year, the 2016 Brane-Cantenac puts recent vintages in the shade, thanks not only to the growing season, but also a new punching down system in their gravity-fed winery that was completed in 2015. The 2016 is a benchmark against which future vintages will be compared. 96-98/100

-- International Wine Report: -- IWR: The 2016 Château Brane-Cantenac is a fantastic showing, with the final blend consisting of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc and 1% Carménère. This gorgeous Margaux offering beautiful aromas of dark currants and cassis which come together with exotic spices, fresh violets, fresh tobacco leaf and graphite. On the palate this boasts a medium to full body with beautifully polished tannins that provide excellent structure. It possesses outstanding overall balance, depth and focus with lovely underlying acidity that persists through the long finish. Readers should have a lot to look forward to, as this is a simply sensational which should have an extremely bright future ahead. 94/100
