Lobenberg: Fast schwarz mir rubinrotem Rand. Sehr versammelte, schwarzbeerige Nase mit mittlerer Konzentration und feiner Süße. Rote Früchte schwingen mit. Insgesamt sehr charmant und schon in der Nase zum reinlegen schön mit dieser süßen, samtigen Frucht. Im Mund eine Kombination von gutem Volumen, zarter Finesse und Rasse. Unglaublich fein gezeichnet. Ein traumhafter Branaire Ducru, unendlich fein, alle Sinne ansprechend und betörend. So schön war Branaire vielleicht noch nie. 95-96/100

-- Parker: As usual, the 2005 Branaire-Ducru is one of the more distinctive wines of St.-Julien. Proprietor Patrick Maroteaux has turned out another classic. While not as opulent or fleshy as the 2003, and it remains to be seen if it will eclipse the 2000, the 2005 is a big, structured, intensely rich effort with raspberry, blueberry, and spring flower garden characteristics, stunning purity, full-bodied power, and good underlying acidity as well as harmony. The hard tannins suggest 8-9 years of cellaring will be beneficial; it should last for three decades. 95/100

-- Wine Cellar Insider: The years have been kind to this wine. A single sniff hooks you with its blackberries, currants, tobacco, smoke, leafy herbs, and background note of mocha. Refined, reserved, chewy, vibrant, and easy to drink, the finish serves up a nice blend of currants, and blackberries with a hint of spice. Perhaps 30 minutes in the decanter is all the wine needs to show its stuff.

Die Weinlese erfolgt per Hand, das Lesegut wird vollständig entrappt und anschließend circa drei Wochen vinifiziert....
