Lobenberg: Der Weinberg Gaia & Rey ist nach Angelo Gajas Tochter Gaia Gaja und seiner Großmutter Clotilde Rey benannt. Er wurde bereits 1979 bepflanzt und damals war das im traditionellen Piemont schon sehr mutige, visionäre Entscheidung. Im Barrique ausgebaut ist das ein Wein der durchaus wie ein großer Burgunder reifen kann. Mittleres goldgelb im Glas. Reifes Steinobst, rote Äpfel und feine Kräuterwürze mit einem Hauch Vanille. Im Mund Präzision und eine hohe Mineralität, fett und üppig ohne buttrig zu sein, sehr nachdrücklich, sehr individuell. Einer der ganz großen Chardonnays Italiens. 95/100

-- Suckling: This is very well done with chalk, a touch of cloves, quartz, spices, slate, limes, lemons, thyme and sea salt. The palate is very sophisticated with ripeness tuned to a tee. Full-bodied but very reserved and subtle with layers of green fruit and spicy undertones throughout. Cutthroat acidity that never overpowers. Long on the finish. 95/100
