Lobenberg: Tedeschi ist der Meister der zarten, unaufdringlichen Amarone, die sich ganz unbelastend und völlig ohne pappige Süße trinken. Sattes Purpurrot. Intensive, balsamisch ummantelte Herzkirsche mit dunklen Beeren, fein rosiniert, etwas Kirschlikör, Salbei und Küchenkräuter, Tulpen. Am Gaumen eine einnehmende Süße im Kern mit reinster, klarer Kirschfrucht. Ein feiner Kreideschleier durchzieht den Mundraum, wir haben mehr Druck und mehr Mineralität und Finesse als beim normalen Amarone, mehr Dichte, aber auch eine ausgesprochen harmonisierende Säure, die die Balance ausmacht. Ein Touch Johannisbeere sorgt für Auftrieb, Sauerkirsche, viel Saft, Zug und Spannung bis in den feinsalzigen Abgang. Ein Amarone mit höchstem Anspruch, aber gleichzeitig so offen und einladend strukturiert. Bereitet seidig-fruchtigen Genuss. 95-96/100

-- Decanter: The historical Amarone of Tedeschi, sourced from 2.5ha of vines in Pedemonte di Valpolicella in the Classico area. The higher clay content here, compared to the limestone soils found at the Maternigo estate, accentuates its huge, dense and bold character. Fragrant aromas of potpourri contrast with hints of meat broth and rich black fruits. Concentrated and focused, its red and black fruit flavours mingle with balsamic freshness and very good acidity, lightening the monolithic weight. Overtones of violet and red fruits on the finish combine with chocolate, coffee and spice, carried by that gum-tingling acidity. Wow! 96/100

-- Galloni: There's a woodsy character to the 2016 Amarone della Valpolicella Riserva Monte Olmi that perfectly inserts itself among the aromas of steeped plum, sage, cedar shavings and cocoa. This envelopes the palate with opulent silky textures, as a core of juicy acidity adds an attractive sweetness to the tart wild berry fruits and exotic spices found within. The 2016 finishes with a tug of fine tannins and lingering concentration, leaving raspberry and clove nuances to fade slowly. This is a beauty, but it needs further cellaring to show its best. 95/100

-- Parker: One of the top wines in the Tedeschi portfolio, the 2016 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva Capitel Monte Olmi brings the intensity threshold up significantly in terms of fruit weight, power and alcohol (measured at 17% here). Dark fruit and plum are folded into candied fruit and cherry liqueur. The tannins are present, for sure, but expertly integrated to show no bitterness or astringency. In fact, the mouthfeel is probably the best and most unique feature of this wine. This is a 12,000-bottle release. 95/100
