International Wine Report über: Brunello di Montalcino

-- International Wine Report: It is solid and centred and offers a captivating mix of red and black hibiscus notes, pressed violet, wet geraniums, juniper berries and black pepper. Medium to full bodied, long and ample showing sweet tannins and a final classic mark in the finale which is difficult to resist. It is complex and authentic with an exciting climax sip after sip. Drink now or age. 97/100

Wine Enthusiast über: Brunello di Montalcino

-- Wine Enthusiast: Inviting aromas of ripe wild berry, baking spice and Mediterranean herb are front and center along with a whiff of blue flower. Full bodied and vibrant, the savory palate features ripe Marasca cherry, star anise and nutmeg framed in noble tannins. Bright acidity provides freshness and balance. Give this time to fully develop and you'll be rewarded. Drink 2026–2046. 96/100

Galloni über: Brunello di Montalcino

-- Galloni: The 2016 Brunello di Montalcino excites the senses with a wonderfully pure and fruity display of wild strawberries, woodland herbs, wet stone and flowery undergrowth. Both savory and sweet, the textures are like silk, with waves of ripe red fruits and spices which give way to salty minerals, licorice, hints of black tea and a coating of fine tannin. While youthfully structured, there’s a juicy freshness to be found throughout, creating harmonious balance and symmetry that makes the 2016 Lisini so easy to like already. That said, the best is yet to come. 95/100

Falstaff über: Brunello di Montalcino

-- Falstaff: Funkelndes, konzentriertes Rubingranat. 95/100

Decanter über: Brunello di Montalcino

-- Decanter: Lisini is one of Montalcino’s oldest estates and has been owned by the Lisini-Clementi family since the 16th century. Today, it is run by Ludovica Lisini and her cousins Carlo and Lorenzo. After a few moments in the glass, liquorice, chocolate and tobacco begin to permeate. Full yet deftly balanced, layers of grainy tannins are an equal match for the dense, dark fruit. Though ageing is in large oak casks, there is a suggestion of wood with sweet vanillin and mint. I suspect a couple more years in bottle will bring everything into exquisite cohesion. 95/100
