IWC über: Batard Montrachet Grand Cru

-- IWC: Bright pale yellow. More obviously ripe on the nose than the Bienvenues, offering scents of peach and clove. Dense, sweet and creamy--in fact almost voluptuous for a young 2013 but with a firm edge to the powerful, mounting apple and spice flavors. Boasts lovely sappy intensity and lemony lift on the back end. This has a markedly higher pH than the Bienvenues (3.4, vs. 3.2) but hardly lacks for vigor. 91-94/100

Wine Spectator über: Batard Montrachet Grand Cru

-- Wine Spectator: -- WS: A tight skein of lemon, apple and spice is fused to the vibrant structure in this linear white. A bit pinched on the finish for now, but should stretch out nicely with a little time. Indeed, with a few hours of air, this gains in richness, harmony and complexity. Best from 2018 through 2028. 94/100

Tim Atkin über: Batard Montrachet Grand Cru

-- Tim Atkin: -- TA: Fatter, broader and altogether more sumptuous and powerful than the Bienvenues, this is another excellent white from the Faiveley team. Creamy and weighty, with well-integrated oak, pear and white peach flavours and a spinal column of acidity. 2016-26 96/100

Domaine Faiveley
