Lobenberg: Vignolo ist eine etwas tiefer gelegene Lage auf dem Weg hoch Richtung Castiglione Falletto, auf der rechten Straßenseite. Der Weinberg liegt auf gut 200 Metern Höhe. Wir haben hier überwiegend Kalkstein mit ein bisschen Sand. Die Stöcke sind gut 50 Jahre alt. Beide Riserva bei Cavallotto liegen fünf Jahre unbewegt und unberührt im Holz. Die 2015er, die ich jetzt probiere, sind auch eine Woche vor der Füllung. Wie bei Cavallotto üblich, haben wir auch hier eine leichte Volatilität in der Nase, das gibt sich aber später. Der Mund ist noch feiner als Bricco Boschis. Wunderschöne Frische und Säure. 2015 ist nicht ganz so tänzelnd wie 2017, sondern etwas runder. Sehr angenehm, sehr harmonisch und eine tolle Balance zeigend. Ein sehr schicker, ausgewogener Barolo, aber nicht ganz die Größe wie der San Giuseppe oder der Bricco Boschis. 95-96+/100

-- Anja Breit: Vignolo kommt von weißem Lehmboden, in perfekter Süd-Westlage. Er wird für fünf Jahre im großen Holzfass gereift bevor er auf den Markt kommt. Mittleres rubinrot. Super feine, würzige, extrem faszinierende Nase! Animalisch, frisches Blut, Eisen, feine Kräuterwürze. Herbstlaub, super komplex und vielschichtig. Dunkle Pflaume und Brombeere. Wow! Man möchte einfach nur am Glas schnüffeln. Am Gaumen mit einer monumentalen Struktur, aber das Tannin ist fein sandig poliert und legt sich wie eine sanfte Decke um die Zähne. Sauerkirsche, Leder, Bitterschokolade. Viel Druck und Spannung. Dieser Wein braucht mindestens zehn Jahre – so lange sollte man die Hände davon lassen, für das beste Genusserlebnis. Top Stoff! 98/100

Sweet red berry fruit, gravel, rose petal, mint, licorice and darker earthy tones all run through this compelling, beautifully layered Riserva. Impressive. 95/100

-- Parker: The 2015 Barolo Riserva Vignolo is a beautifully generous and richly layered wine. It opens first to dark fruit, cassis and dried cherry, but the bouquet takes you on an aromatic journey that remains very faithful to the basics of Barolo. The fruit cedes to dark spice, toasted hazelnut and dusty earth or potting soil. The wine is quite interesting and compelling in terms of mouthfeel. The structure shows a tannic pitch that is sufficient to tie it neatly together. Yet the fleshiness and generosity of the fruit serve to give it more volume and dimension. Fruit comes from a 1.96-hectare south-facing site on the Cavallotto family property in Castiglione Falletto with 40-year-old vines. Production is 7,326 bottles. 95/100
