Lobenberg: Ein legendärer Wein von einem Winzer, den man nicht weiter vorstellen braucht. Er betört ob der dunklen Früchte. Immens komplexes Bouquet. Leder, eine Spur Tabak, getrocknete Pflaume, etwas Unterholz, auch Brombeere. Am Gaumen geradlinig, markant und sehr würzig, viel Pfeffer, schwarze Beeren. Unglaublich langes Finish. Bereitet jetzt schon viel Freude, wird aber erst in einigen Jahren richtig aufdrehen. Ein großer, extrem langlebiger Nebbiolo! 97+/100

-- Suckling: Glorious aromas of flowers, crushed berries, strawberries and dried herbs. Some tea. Full-bodied and layered with a wonderfully curated, polished tannin structure and backbone. Give it three or four years to soften. Try after 2023. 97/100

-- Jeb Dunnuck: A pretty, perfumed example of this cuvee, the 2017 Barbaresco offers lots more red fruits as well as spice, dried flowers, incense, and loamy soil. With more licorice and minerality emerging with time in the glass, it hits the palate with medium-bodied richness, an elegant texture, plenty of firm tannins, and a great finish. It doesn't get more textbook Nebbiolo than this. This classic beauty is going to benefit from 5-7 years of bottle age and have 2-3 decades of longevity. 95+/100

-- Parker: The hallmark of the Gaja estate, the Barbaresco is sourced from 14 vineyards within Barbaresco and Treiso. For the 2018 vintage, there will be no single cru bottlings for Barbaresco, and all of the fruit has gone into the estate bottling. The 2018 Barbaresco is pure and inviting, with perfumed notes of rose petal, ripe raspberry, and clove. Medium-bodied and approachable, with super fine-grained tannins, it offers fresh strawberry, orange pith, and dusty earth. The undeniable elegance of this 2018 is joyful now, though it will be great to revisit over the next 15 years. Drink 2022-2036. 96+/100

-- Falstaff: Leuchtendes, aufhellendes Rubingranat. Eröffnet mit betont würzigen Noten nach Gewürznelken, etwas Rosen und viel saftiger Kirsche. Rund und geschmeidig im Ansatz, öffnet sich dann mit präsentem, knackigem Tannin, ist sehr gut eingebunden, im Finale fester Druck und herzhaft. 95/100
