Lobenberg: Der Il Bricco wächst auf der höchsten, windigsten und kühlsten Lage in Barbaresco überhaupt. Die Lage befindet sich bei Treiso, also nicht am Ort Barbareso. Der Wein strahlt eine Abgehobenheit sondergleichen aus. Ein bisschen elfenhaft. Feine Marzipannoten, helle Lakritze, ganz feine schwarze Kirsche. Ein bisschen Schlehe dahinter, aber unendlich fein und verspielt. Im Mund eine geniale Länge und Frische. Die Augen ziehen sich zusammen. Der Wein hat alles, was ein großer Barbaresco braucht. Und er hat im Gegensatz zu Barolo eine unendliche Feinheit. Leicht sandige Tannine, für Minuten stehend und immer wieder hochrollend. Ein bisschen Hagebutte, Schlehe, Marzipan und Lakitze darunter. Erstaunlich viel Kraft, immer mehr aufbauend. Es ist schon ein großer Schritt vom normalen Barbaresco zu diesem Il Bricco. Das gehört zu den großen Weinen in 2016 und er kann locker mit den großen Lagen-Barbaresco Riserva von Produttori mithalten. Ich bin sehr begeistert! Ein extrem schöner Stoff. 97-98/100

-- Suckling: A soft, fruity red with strawberry and smoke undertones, as well as spices. Full-bodied. Chewy, round and racy at the end. Very structured and linear. Give it time to open. Better after 2022 and onwards. 97/100

-- Parker: The Pio Cesare 2016 Barbaresco Il Bricco is a beautifully lightweight and lithe expression, with an enormously silky and subtle mouthfeel. Barbaresco is always a bit more open and accessible compared to Barolo, but this particular release of 7,000 bottles has benefited from an extra year in the bottle and has gained even more definition and traction in terms of mouthfeel as result. This wine speaks in long, slow and well-enunciated tones. Indeed, it whispers into your heart. 94/100

-- Galloni: The 2016 Barbaresco Il Bricco, from Pio Cesare’s vineyard in Treiso, is gorgeous. Sweet red cherry, kirsch, mint, cinnamon and star anise all flesh out in the glass, with an extra kick of warmth (not heat) that gives the wine a real sense of breadth. Best of all, the 2016 will drink well with minimal cellaring, although it certainly has the substance to age well for some time to come. 94/100
