Lobenberg: Die 80 Jahre alten Reben dieses Weines von der Insel Santorini sind ungepfropft, das heißt wirklich wurzelecht, nicht von der Reblaus befallen. Der Wein wurde spontan vergoren, was die Nase unweigerlich und grandios verrät. Rauchig, dezent fruchtig und wunderbar floral im Anklang. Birne und Apfelschale kombiniert mit Wildblumenwiese. Im Antrunk voluminös. Sehr vollmundig, der Schalenkontakt spiegelt sich wider, auch Apfelaroma, aber vor allem Birne. Niemals modrig oder alt, enorm frisch, aber eben eine Spur rustikal. Feinste Phenolik eingebettet in eine tolle Säurestruktur. Bleibt sehr lange am Gaumen und steht auch im Abgang. Hier kommt sogar noch eine schöne Salzigkeit ins Spiel. Sehr beeindruckendes und hochindividuelles Trinkvergnügen. 94+/100

-- Parker: The 2018 Assyrtiko Wild Ferment was 50% aged in stainless steel, with the other half in a combination of acacia, French and American oak for four months. The wine comes in at 13.5% alcohol. Always a touch flinty and alternating between various wood nuances, this is a wine that you like or you leave in terms of flavor profile. It's not exactly your typical Assyrtiko. That said, it has beautiful structure, good concentration and a gripping finish with fine acidity on display. It's simply penetrating on the finish. This is very much a food wine—do not even think of using this as a simple sipper. 91/100
