La Nieta Tempranillo
-- Jeb Dunnuck: The 2017 La Nieta is a single vineyard release from a site outside the village of Paganos Laguardia (this is beside the winery) and is all Tempranillo planted in shallow, rocky soils. Aged 18 months in new French oak, its saturated purple color is followed by an incredible bouquet of crème de cassis and blackberry fruits interwoven with loads of chocolate, graphite, crushed stone-like minerality, camphor, and Asian spices. This carries to a rich, powerful wine that never puts a foot wrong, offering an opulent, expansive mouthfeel, building yet fine, seamless tannins, flawless balance, and monster of a finish. It has plenty of nicely integrated oak that's going to integrate with 4-5 years of bottle age, and this beauty will evolve for 2-3 decades in cool cellars. 98/100
