Lobenberg: Konzentrierter Duft im Glas, eine traumhafte Balance im Mund und eine fast verschwenderische Aromatik begleiten diesen Wein. Die Süße der Frucht ist einzigartig. Die gesunden Trauben stammen zu 100% aus dem privilegierten Weinberg Tondonia, der in den Jahren 1913/14 am rechten Ufer des Flusses Ebro angelegt wurde. Nach diesem Weinberg ist der Wein benannt. Die Eindrücke überwältigen: Saftig, rote Beeren, zarte Gewürze, feine Teer- und Lederaromen. Wahnsinnig konzentrierter, sehr langlebiger Reserva. Erstaunlicherweise schon jung ein Genuss. Sicher ist, dass er in 30 oder mehr Jahren zur Sensation wird. 95/100

-- Tim Atkin: Very close in quality to the superlative 2005 (an exceptional vintage in Rioja), this is a wonderfully traditional cuvée of Tempranillo with 20% Garnacha and 5% each of Graciano and Mazuelo. Silky, balanced, fine and mature with a background whisper of old oak, umami, forest floor and wild strawberry flavours and a chalky freshness that cleans the palate. 95/100

-- Parker: The red flagship 2006 Viña Tondonia Reserva was inspired by the vineyards of the Médoc but produced with local grapes, 70% Tempranillo, 20% Garnacho, 5% Graciano and 5% Mazuelo, which achieved 13% alcohol in 2006. It always matures in used American oak barriques for some six years. The oldest of all the reds I tasted, it was also the one with more freshness, which speaks to the quality of the vineyard. 95/100

-- Suckling: This is a remarkably lively wine for a 12-year-old Rioja with notes of licorice and dried cherries and a very elegant tannin structure that runs through the medium to full body of this red like a silk thread. The dry finish is long and polished. Drink or hold. 94/100

-- International Wine Report: -- IWR: The 2006 Viña Tondonia is a stunning effort from what was a challenging vintage in Rioja. The wine is a highly compelling blend of Tempranillo (75%), Garnacho (15%), Graciano and Mazuelo (10%), which was sourced from their estate vineyards and aged for six years prior to bottling. Needing some time to express itself, the wine offers an aromatic profile of cranberry, orange, red cherry candy and toasty oak aromatics. The palate is plush, as the wine glides through adding to the enjoyment. Red currants, blood orange zest, cigar ash and red cherry preserve flavors all beautifully weave their way through the palate. Showing wonderful ageing potential, this should cellar well for another fifteen plus years, however it is also drinking marvelously now. 94/100
