Lobenberg: Vega Sicilia zählt sicherlich zu den Top 3 Spaniens. Weine, die wie ganz wenige andere reifen können und sich seit Jahrzehnten bewiesen haben. Der Valbuena 5 Anos ist der kleine Vega Sicilia Unico für den etwas früheren Trinkgenus. Im Kontext dieser Azienda bedeutet dies dann ein entspanntes Trinkfenster von 25-30 Jahren. Ein feiner, sehr konzentrierter und tiefdunkler Wein, überwiegend aus Tempranillo. Er reift insgesamt 5 Jahre im Fass und der Flasche. Ausbau in amerikanischer Eiche, 225 Liter. All dies ergibt in Verbindung mit dem Knowhow des Weinguts einen Klassiker der Weinwelt. 97/100

-- Tim Atkin: This is one of the best Valbuenas I've ever tasted, a still youthful cuvée of Tempranillo with 5% Merlot. Made grapes from Vega's north-facing vineyards in the western part of the Denominación de Origen, it's a refined, layered, subtly wooded red with some spice from partial American oak ageing, notes of fresh tobacco, raspberry and bramble fruit, very fine tannins and a core of acidity that's unusual in 2015. 97/100

-- Parker: The 2015 Valbuena, a red blend of mostly Tempranillo with some 5% Merlot, is released in the fifth year after the harvest. It's explosive and showy, with a complex nose that shows a mixture of flowers and wild herbs, balsamic touches and great nuance. This wine has gained in complexity since the 2010 vintage, where they implemented some changes that increased the expressivity and precision of this wine. The tannins are fine-grained and there is very good balance, and the warm conditions of the year have been absorbed well by the wine. Despite the natural conditions of the year, the wine follows the path of freshness of the 2010. 96/100

-- Galloni: Opaque garnet. Vibrant, finely detailed cherry liqueur, dark berry, exotic spice and floral qualities on the expressive nose, along with hints of mocha and incense. Stains the palate with sweet, penetrating red and dark fruit, violet pastille, chewing tobacco and spicecake flavors that pick up a vanilla flourish on the back half. Smoothly blends power and finesse and finishes on a youthfully tannic note, showing outstanding clarity and mineral-tinged persistence. 96/100
