Lobenberg: Seit 2005 nach langjähriger Vorarbeit zu 100% biodynamische Erzeugung! Über 100 Jahre alte Reben. Mit dem Matallana der beste, je von Telmo erzeugte Wein. Einer der ganz großen Weine Spaniens, in einer Linie mit Pingus und Artadi. Dunkles Rot mit schwarzen Reflexen. Dichte, schwarze und etwas rote Frucht, sogar etwas Cassis, Kirschen, Tabak und Holz, ein Hauch von Teer und Goudron. Sehr vollmundig und üppig, ungeheuer tiefgründig und komplex, sehr fruchtstark im Mund, aber auch riojatypisch sehr seidig und sehr elegant, fast burgundisch, ein Wein zum Träumen und doch auch etwas wild dabei. Ein besinnlich erotisches Erlebnis. 97+/100

-- Parker: There is an extra degree of elegance, precision and focus in the 2012 Altos de Lanzaga compared with the regular Lanzaga from that same year. It is produced from four small plots of over 70-year-old vines at 500-600 meters altitude, planted on very poor soils that are biodynamically farmed. It fermented in 3,000-kilo oak vats for 20 days with indigenous yeasts, and matured in 1,500-liter oak foudres and 225-liter barriques for some 18 months. The nose might be a little reticent at first, quite subtle, serious, balanced, a little backward. There is great balance, very fine tannins and very good freshness. This wine is very tasty, combining elegance and power. This is a very good vintage of Altos, with enough stuffing and balance to age magnificently in bottle. 2,500 bottles were filled in June 2014. 95/100

-- Suckling: Aromas of crushed dark fruits with hints of pine needles and underbrush. Full and powerful palate underlying a sense of elegance. Polished tannins. Made from old head-pruned vines in the village of Lanciego in Rioja. Not as great as the 2010 but clearly outstanding. Drink now but better in 2018. 94/100

-- Galloni: (fermented in foudres and 18 months of aging in foudres and new French oak barriques) Deep, lurid ruby. A highly expressive bouquet evokes Chambord, cherry-cola, potpourri and exotic spices, with a smoky mineral topnote building in the glass. Offers sweet, palate-staining red/blue fruit preserve, spicecake and cola. Candied lavender flavors show outstanding depth as well as energy thanks to a spine of juicy acidity. Deftly plays power off of elegance and finishes extremely long and precise, with velvety tannins adding framework and gentle closing grip. 94/100
