-- Parker: Ried Zieregg Hausweingarten: The 2017 Zieregg Hausweingarten opens with an intense, pure and coolish flinty bouquet with white chocolate and nougat aromas along with iodine and apricot notes. Fascinatingly elegant. On the palate, this is a powerful, intense and salty, highly concentrated wine with a silky texture and fine tannins. This Zieregg develops enormous power with grip and mineral length. Crystalline. Still a baby but a huge talent. Tasted as a sample in May 2019. To be bottled in September. 96-97/100Ried Zieregg Steilriegel: The 2017 Zieregg Steilriegel is from the oldest parcel in the Zieregg that Manfred Tement planted in the early 1980s. In internal degustations, this is always the most elegant and quiet wine of all the Zieregg plots. This barrel sample of the 2017 opens with a super clear, deep, fresh and grassy-scented but most of all refined bouquet with bright and transparent purity and spicy character that even reminds me of Welschriesling. The 2017 is discreet and complex on the nose, with herbal, vegetal and coolish fruit aromas. The palate is seamless, fine, tight-knit, terribly pure and salty yet lush and precise, highly tensioned and concentrated but always mineral and intense, with the fruit perfectly interwoven with the phenols and the mineral grip. 96-97/100Ried Zieregg Karmeliten Kapellenweingarten: From a clay plateau on coralline limestone terroir at 480 meters above sea level, the 2017 Zieregg Kapellenweingarten opens intensely fruity but clear, fine and coolish with lots of iodine notes that remind me of the great Jura wines. The nose combines a ripe, warm and rich character with a cool and even cold, very pure one. Fascinating! The attack on the palate is finely racy and vital, with lots of salt that is carried into a long and powerful finish, but the wine is very fine and elegant, with enormously salty purity and tension. Is this a Ganevat pirate from Styria? What energy and endless mineral tension. So pure, so crunchy and so powerful! A Must Buy (at least for me). To be bottled in September 2019. Tasted in May. 96-98/100
