Marko Skin
-- Parker zu 2018: And what about orange Txakoli? Well, again the Txakoli zone and grapes have produced a very unusual 'orange' wine, the 2018 Marko Skin. It's a varietal Hondarribi Zuri or Gros Corbu that was macerated with skins for 10 to 15 days in tinaja (terracotta amphorae) and finished fermenting in used 500-liter oak barrels, where the wine was kept with the lees for seven to 10 months. This has a bright amber color and a spectacular and very different nose with hints of diesel, quince paste and orange marmalade and a palate with fine tannins and great balance between the alcohol and acidity with 4.6 grams of residual sugar that go completely unnoticed. I have to say that this is one of my favorite orange wines, which tend to be too influenced by the process, but here it seems to keep some of the Txakoli character in the shape of freshness. Only 240 bottles were filled in July 2019. 93/100
