Nur 0,9 Hektar auf Meereshöhe. Reiner Sandboden unterhalb von Miraflores. Zu 100 Prozent mit Moscatel bepflanzt, 40 Jahre alte Reben. Der Wein wird klassisch als trocken ausgebaut. Das ist ein sehr erstaunlicher Wein! Es ist Moscatel, aber längst nicht so kitschig und aromatisch, wie Moscatel häufig sein kann. Er hat eine sehr feine Aromatik, sehr floral bis hin zu Flieder. Hochintensiv und parfümiert, ohne dabei schwer zu sein. Keine exotische Süße, sondern eine extrem feine Fruchtsüße. Wow, was für ein schickes Ereignis in der Nase! Im Mund entwickelt er erstaunlich viel Druck. Auch hier ist es weit weg von klassischem Moscatel. Sogar etwas tannic – viel Druck entwickelnd, viel Schub mit Länge und Salz bei hoher Aromatik. Trotzdem ist er knochentrocken. Der leicht erhöhte Alkoholgehalt steht im gut, das gibt ihm eine gute Dichte im Mund. Schicker Wein, perfekt zum Solo-Genuss! Im Nachhall wieder viel gelbe Frucht mit feiner Süße aus Mango, aber nicht fett und hochsüß, sondern eher zart daherkommend. Auch ein Hauch Sanddorn mit Salz. Eine tolle Säure zeigend, sehr frisch. Der Wein macht echt Freude!

2023 war sehr warm, aber er ist deutlich kühler und balancierter als der noch heißere und trockenere 2022. Nicht so aufregend und extrem wie 2021, eher eine reife und harmonische Version von 2020. Und so ist 2023 durchaus eine Fortsetzung der so großen Jahrgänge seit 2019. Luis Gutierez, Parkers Mann für Spanien, fasst den Jahrgang 2023 anhand von Alvaro Palacios Weingütern ganz im Westen und ganz im Osten, somit Landesübergreifend so zusammen: 2023 was an even more generous crop than 2022 … the wines have better balance, and it doesn't feel like a warm year at all. In fact, the wines feel more like they come from a cool year. It's a vintage that has a tendency toward reduction, not as much as 2020, but still reductive. But it's an elegant, stony reduction...The quality of the 2023s is stunning. There is a level of precision, cleanliness, symmetry and elegance that, if the end of the élevage and the bottling goes as expected, I must conclude that 2023 might be the finest vintage ... There might be other individual wines that reach higher peaks, but as an overall portfolio, the vintage 2023 represents the strongest collection ever produced.

Parker über: Elixir Moscatel

The 2023 Élixir was produced with Moscatel de Chipiona on sandy soils from the El Camino plot in Pago Abulagar in Chipiona, which in the past had been blended with Palomino, but since the low-yielding 2019, they used 100% Moscatel and have continued like that. For them, Moscatel is associated with sand. The juice from the direct pressing fermented and matured in well-seasoned, neutral French oak barrels with full lees for 11 months. It has an attractive and beautifully perfumed nose, with echoes from Moscatel but in a subtle way and with more notes of orange peel and peach than pungent jasmine-like aromas, as well as minty and balsamic hints. It has 13.5% alcohol and a pH of 3.86 with 4.24 grams of acidity, a round palate and elegant and subtle flavors polished by the proximity of the sea and the sandy soils, giving it a salty twist that makes you salivate. It grows on you. 2,650 bottles were filled in July 2024.
