Motor Blanc
-- Parker: There is now a white wine produced with Premsal or Prensal Blanc grapes, the 2019 Motor Blanc, from the Motor range that they consider their R&D line, where they experiment with new and old methods and varieties with the aim of finding the Mediterranean identity of their terroir. This was produced with organically farmed and certified vineyards, head-pruned, 15-year-old plants on deep clay soils. They do different vinifications—carbonic maceration, maceration in tanks and maceration in tinaja (amphora) from Mallorca clay—but they don't filter, clarify or use any added sulfur in any of them. They had done some small lots of white before, but this is the first proper vintage. Part of the wine had some skin contact and some lots must have had some flor, as there is a spicy twist a little à la Jura. It's not an aromatic grape—it's quite subtle—and tends to have a nice evolution in bottle, and they think that the oxidative vinification and aging goes well with the wine a little like Macabeo/Viura. This is very tasty, with spicy and almost salty flavors, dry and chalky. This is impressive and fresh for a year like 2019. They didn't get the cold spell ('gota fría,' a.k.a. upper-level isolated depression, or DANA) that hit most of the Mediterranean in the mainland. This was vinified and bottled without any added sulfur. 92/100
