Lobenberg: Cerretta ist eine vergleichbar riesengroße Lage in Serralunga. Sie zieht sich von Serralunga ganz runter bis Villero und weist von weißem Lehm über Kalkstein, rotem Lehm und Ton und Sand die verschiedensten Ausprägungen auf. Von Giacomo Conterno zu Altare zu Baudana, hier tummelt sich die erste Reihe der Langhe. Sehr sehr Serralunga, extrem mineralischer Ausdruck, geradeaus und maskulin. Schwarze Frucht, satte Veilchen, etwas Lavendel, Lakritze, Balsamiko, Graphit und Asche in der intensiven Nase. Orangenzeste neben Waldhimbeere und ein Hauch Exotik dabei. Ein Blockbuster mit viel Frucht und Frische, als 2017er viel schicker und offener als 2016. Ein Powerwein und doch auch multikomplex und fein. Fast ganz großer Stoff und sicher in der ersten Reihe des Jahrgangs. 96-98/100

-- Galloni: A dark, somber wine, the 2017 Barolo Cerretta shows the more potent, brooding side of Serralunga. Black cherry, gravel, smoke, cured meats, cloves and menthol add to an impression of virile intensity and pure power. Readers will have to be patient here, but there is certainly a ton to look forward to. This is another impressive showing from Baudana and the Vajra family. 95/100

-- Wine Spectator: This red boasts a beautiful balance between its cherry, strawberry, floral, eucalyptus and mineral aromas and flavors. Supple and elegant, despite the resonant tannins and lively acidity that boost the lingering aftertaste, with fine length. Don’t think about pulling the cork for five years. Best from 2026 through 2048. 96/100

Luigi Baudanas Vater starb, als er 14 Jahre alt war. Alt genug für die Arbeit, leider nicht alt genug um guten Wein zu machen. Luigi war aber entschlossen den Hof weiter zu betreiben, nichts wollte er verkaufen.
