Heiner Lobenberg über:
Le Petit Mouton de Mouton Rothschild 2019

94–95
/100

Lobenberg: 13,5 Volumenprozent Alkohol. 68 Prozent Cabernet Sauvignon, 32 Prozent Merlot. 94-95/100

Suckling über: Le Petit Mouton de Mouton Rothschild

-- Suckling: A luscious red with redcurrant, chocolate, plum and hazelnut. Rather opulent on the nose. Full-bodied and very structured with chewy tannins that are intense and powerful. This needs time to come together and soften. 68% cabernet sauvignon and 32% merlot. Better after 2027. 97/100

Weinwisser über: Le Petit Mouton de Mouton Rothschild

-- Weinwisser: Sattes Purpurviolett. 18.5/20 95-96/100

Jeb Dunnuck über: Le Petit Mouton de Mouton Rothschild

-- Jeb Dunnuck: The 2019 Le Petit Mouton De Mouton Rothschild is one heck of a second wine and has a rare level of depth and density. A blend of 68% Cabernet Sauvignon and 32% Merlot, it reveals a dense ruby/purple hue to go with textbook Pauillac notes of cedar pencil, smoke tobacco, spice box, blackcurrants, and graphite. Deep, rich, medium to full-bodied, and beautifully balanced, it's probably better than many vintages of the Grand Vin. I absolutely love its purity of fruit, balance, and structure. It needs a healthy decant if drinking any time soon and will benefit from 4-6 years of bottle age, but it will have over two decades of longevity. Just don't tell yourself it's a second wine and you'll think you're drinking the Grand Vin. 95/100

Jane Anson über: Le Petit Mouton de Mouton Rothschild

-- Jane Anson: Cool ash and campfire fragrance envelops you from the beginning, followed by dense layers of blackberry, bilberry, cassis, espresso, and cocoa bean. This is easy to love, engaging and charming, although it builds in power and the tannins become pretty chewy through the finish. Harvest September 19 to October 5 (a little earlier that Clerc and Armailhac because Mouton is always an early terroir due to its abundance of pure gravel). 50% new oak. 94/100

Wine Cellar Insider über: Le Petit Mouton de Mouton Rothschild

-- Wine Cellar Insider: Truffle, flowers, tobacco leaf, spice-box and blackberry aromas permeate the perfume. Round and richly textured, with a beautiful blast of black and red, ripe, sweet fruit and freshness on the palate, everything comes together in the supple textured finish. It is interesting to note that today, the second wine is superior to every vintage of Mouton Rothschild produced in the 70s and most of the 80s! The wine blends 68% Cabernet Sauvignon and 32% Merlot. 91-93/100
