Jeb Dunnuck über: Hermitage Blanc

-- Jeb Dunnuck: As always, I was able to taste the 2016 Hermitage Blanc from separate components, with each showing singular characters, yet possessing awesome purity, depth, and length. The barrel of l’Ermite had an insane, liquid rock-like minerality as well as a purity of fruit that was off the charts. The Rocoules was slightly more fresh and lively than normal, but the sample from Péleat had blockbuster levels of fruit, concentration, and length. The only downside; due to the hail, is that there’s just a handful of barrels of this elixir to go around. Nevertheless, this will be a profound Hermitage Blanc that readers should snatch up. 100/100

Parker über: Hermitage Blanc

-- Parker: Bottled in August, Chave's 2016 Hermitage Blanc is a tremendous wine. It's a bit closed on the nose (bottle shock?), but it wows on the palate, rocking it with seismic waves of super ripe pineapple and melon fruit and more than a small dose of what I can only describe as magma-like essence of stone. It's full-bodied and mouthfilling in its richness, yet it never seems heavy or overdone. Remember that yields were constrained by hail, so don't delay in procuring whatever your budget will allow. 98/100

Winespectator über: Hermitage Blanc

-- Winespectator: Remarkably concentrated yet poised, with acacia and honeysuckle notes leading the way for a core of creamed melon, quince, mirabelle plum and white nectarine flavors. The long brioche- and salted butter–fueled finish shows terrific cut for a wine of this weight, ending with a lingering beeswax hint. A stunner. 98/100

Galloni über: Hermitage Blanc

-- Galloni: Brilliant straw-yellow. Heady lemon, pear nectar, iodine and toasted brioche qualities on the deeply perfumed, mineral-accented nose. Juicy and expansive in the mouth, offering densely packed citrus, orchard fruit and sweet butter flavors that show outstanding clarity and emphatic mineral thrust. Conveys superb energy on the endless finish, which features a sexy floral quality and a powerful snap of smoky minerality. 98/100

Jean Louis Chave
