Lobenberg: Das ist die allseits anerkannte beste 1er Cru Lage in Gevrey, oft höher bewertet als manch Grand Cru. Die Weine hier sind sensationell präzise und geradlinig bei großer Feinheit. Fast 60 Jahre alte Reben. Reiner Kalkstein und südliche Exposition in Hochlage sind wohl das Geheimnis. Der Wein zeigt in Nase und Mund viel Struktur und Tannin, ist aber nicht wuchtig, eher komplex. Tolle Pflaume, Teer, dunkle Schokolade, schöne kubanische Tabake, der Duft einer nicht entzündeten, sehr weichen, elastischen Cohiba-Zigarre. Schiefer und Erde. Schwarze und rote Waldfrüchte, ganz klar und definiert, daneben und ebenfalls sehr präzise eine salzige Kalksteinmineralität. Im Mund prägnante Säure, feinere Früchte im Mund als in der Nase, frische Zwetschge, Johannisbeere, Walderdbeere, etwas Brombeere, hier mehr feinerer dominikanischer Tabak, Rauch, Milchschokolade, feines Spiel und Komplexität. Das alles mit Beeren- und Kirschfrucht zu höchster Komnplexität vermählt. Großer Wein. 96-97+/100

-- Parker: The 2012 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Clos Saint Jacques has a perfumed bouquet with very pure, brambly red berry fruit, briary and cold stone that gently unfurls in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins. This is another linear, focused Gevrey-Chambertin cut from the same cloth as the Cazetiers: structured and focused towards the finish with superb mineralite and persistency in the mouth. This should be marvelous after bottling and really gets to grips with the propitious nature of the vineyard. 93-95/100

-- Galloni: Mid-palate pliancy and resonance are on full display in the 2012 Gevrey-Chambertin Clos-St.-Jacques. Sweet rose petals, crushed red berries, mint and spices flesh out in a resonant yet understated Burgundy endowed with considerable depth. This is fascinating to taste next to the more delicate Cazetiers. 92-94/100

-- Burghound: As is usually the case this is more aromatically elegant than the Cazetiers even though the two parcels all but touch one another. A restrained nose of plum and red currant liqueur slides gracefully into delicious, intense and wonderfully refined medium weight flavors that brim with both minerality and plenty of mouth coating dry extract before terminating in a driving and beautifully textured finish that displays strikingly good length. This is a wine of class and harmony. 92-94/100

-- IWC: Medium red. Enticing raspberry and floral aromas. Broad, rich and sweet, with lovely delicacy to its flavors of spices, flowers and earth but not yet showing this cuvee's typical cut and thrust. Finishes rich and persistent--but not singing today. Am I underrating this? 91-94/100
