Lobenberg: Nur 6 Barriques aus der Lage oberhalb des Chambertin. Diese Lage ist mit Clos St. Jacques und vor Laveaux St. Jacques mit Abstand die beste Lage aller 1er Crus und nah an einem Grand Cru. Immens dichte Nase. Satte Kraft, extrem komplex. Dunkelroter Wein mit schwarzen Reflexen. Hohe Intensität und Spannung. Sehr viel Rauch, dunkle Schokolade, Tabak, reife Pflaumen, reife schwarze Kirschen, dunkle Waldfrüchte. Trotz der sehr reifen schwarzen Johannisbeeren sehr fein, tänzelnd, voller Finesse und dennoch dicht. Alles einnehmend in der Nase und im Mund. Tolle Intensität voller Spannung und Vibration. Holz, Tannin, vibrierend pikante Säure und dunkle Früchte mischen sich sehr gut. Sehr komplex, sehr viele wechselnde Eindrücke, ein rasantes Piano am Gaumen. Große Länge, hohe Spannung im Nachhall hinterlassend. Grandioser Charme, überaus einladend, trinkig. Holz dominiert noch etwas, wird sich aber später integrieren. Ein toller, ja fast ein ganz großer Wein. 96-97/100

Here, the energy of the vintage is expressed through a more understated set of textures and flavors. Red cherry, plum and floral notes grace the bright finish. -- BH: The aromatic profile is similar to that of the Champeaux but is even more floral in character. The mouth feel of the medium-bodied flavors is quite finely detailed with a bit more minerality as well that terminates in a lingering finish where the less evident supporting tannins don’t seem to be quite as ripe. Still, there is no dryness or astringency so I don’t see this as a real issue. 90-92/100
