Lobenberg: Das ist ein Blend aus sieben Weinlagen. Hier kommt wirklich, wie Winemaker Bob Bertheau sagt, „the best of the best“ in die Flasche. 90% Cabernet Sauvignon mit 10% Merlot zur Abrundung. Bertheau bezeichnet den 2013er Jahrgang als bisherige Krönung der Ethos-Reihe. Die Nase ist abgefahren. Rote Lyonnaiser Dragees, Johannisbeere, Rosmarin und Blaubeere. Am Gaumen dann feine Extraktsüße, auch eine wunderbar reife und dunkle Frucht. Aber auch Herzkirsche und Johannisbeere. Überraschend straff ist das Tannin. Aber eher fein und kleinteilig. Der Wein gleitet dahin, hat aber mächtig Struktur. Im Jugendstadium gerne eine gute Stunde vorab dekantieren oder eben 2-3 Jahre Flaschenreife geben. Großer Potenzialwein! 96-97/100

-- International wine report: The 2013 ‘Ethos’ Cabernet Sauvignon is dense, decadent and layered. This shows a host of dark fruit aromatics with hints of sagebrush and crushed mint. The tannins are mild to moderate and frame deep flavors of pipe tobacco, chocolate covered cherries, cassis and anise.
