Lobenberg: 100% Syrah, biologische Weinbergsarbeit, Spontanvergärung. Davon 25% als Ganztraubenvergärung, Ausbau 17 Monate in gebrauchtem Barrique. Dunkel und dicht. Breitschultrig. Satte, fast fette Fruchtnase, Cassis, Kirsche, Schokolade, Brombeere und Lakritze, Lorbeer, Wacholder, Holunder, Hagebutte, extrem krautwürzig und mineralisch, fast etwas parfümiert und blumig daneben, insgesamt jedoch klar ein Powerwein. Superkonzentrierte Waldbeeren. Die Ganztraubenvergärung erhält die Säure und verändert die Tannine, das Alterungspotenzial nimmt deutlich zu, die Weine werden energetisch intensiver. Leicht bitter im Mund, Maulbeere, Schlehe, fast explosiv kraftvoll mit wieder viel Kraut, dazu schwarze und grüne Olive, Lorbeerwürze und satter Bitterstoff, Salz, Feuerstein. Ein extrem maskuliner, mineralisch druckvoller Wein. Brutal intensiver Powerwein und doch vollständig vergoren, keinerlei Süße, maskulin bis zum abwinken. 96+/100

-- Jeb Dunnuck: As to the Cornas releases, the young vine cuvée from Voge is the 2017 Cornas Les Chailles, which spent 18 months in used barrels. It's a pure, beautifully layered, ripe example of the vintage that has rock star purity in its cassis, blackberry, crushed rock, and crushed violet aromas and flavors. It has some leesy notes which should disappear by the time it's bottled, medium to full body, a rounded, layered texture, and a great finish. 94/100

-- Galloni: Inky ruby. Powerful aromas of blackberry liqueur, succulent flowers and smoky minerals slowly take on a hint of smoky bacon with air. Smooth and expansive on the palate, offering ripe, spice-laced dark berry and floral pastille flavors and a touch of fruitcake. Closes on a sweet floral pastille note, with impressive energy, supple tannins and an echo of bitter cherry pit. 92-94/100

-- Decanter: This is from 40-year-old vines at the foot of the slope in good lieux-dits. The wine's all destemmed and fermented with indigenous yeasts, then matured for 18 months in barriques, none new. This is a subtle style, with bitter herbs and berry fruits to the fore, joined by a touch of thyme and citrus. There's a good sense of relief to the tannins, which are grainy but enjoyably textural. Not the longest finish, but beautifully drinkable and unforced.92/100
