Lobenberg: Nur die allerbesten Trauben werden hier verwendet. 5.700 Flaschen Jahresproduktion. Das Flagschiff der Bodega Contador. Unendlich fein, rassig, mineralisch. Fast verschwenderisch in den Aromen von Brombeeren. Äußerst intensiv. Reife rote und schwarze Früchte, herbe Aromen (Thymian, Rosmarin, Lavendel und Fenchel). Mineralisch und tolle Röstaromen von der 18monatigen Reife im Holzfass. Unendlich kraftvoll, extrem fein. Das Verhältnis Frucht / Holz ist superb ausbalanciert. Intensiv und wahnsinnig lang. 98-100/100

-- Parker: The red flagship 2015 Contador was selected from vines over 60 years of age, and it fermented in oak vats with indigenous yeasts and matured in new French oak barrels for 20 months. It feels like a great vintage for the top bottling, as it has enough ripeness and concentration but is also terribly elegant, floral and nuanced. 2015 was a warm and dry year with the risk of excessive wines, but this Contador is beautifully balanced and has a rare combination of concentration and lightness. There is a nice core of freshness that lifts the wine up and gives it length. 6,500 bottles produced. It was bottled in May 2017. 97+/100

-- Tim Atkin: No fewer than 15 different parcels in San Vicente and neighbouring Briones go in to making this famous Rioja red, made for first time in 1999. It’s certainly plush, ripe and concentrated, but the dark fruit flavours and oak are balanced by acidity and stylish oak. A brilliant expression of old vine Tempranillo. 96/100

-- Galloni: Shimmering violet. Highly perfumed black raspberry and boysenberry scents, along with suggestions of candied flowers, vanilla, exotic spices and smoky minerals. Densely packed and lively on the palate, displaying fine definition to the black and blue fruit liqueur, cherry cola, rose pastille and spicecake flavors. Comes off rich as well as lithe, with polished tannins framing the extremely persistent finish, where a bright mineral flourish adds final cut. 96/100
