Heiner Lobenberg über:
Chateauneuf du Pape 2017

Lobenberg: Dunkles Rubinrot. Kirsche, Pfeffer und Gewürze in der Nase. Voller Körper, sehr klassisch gebaut, sehr tanninreich und expansiv im Mund. Trotz der Kraft köstlich und früh genießbar. 94+/100

Wine Enthusiast über: Chateauneuf du Pape

-- Wine Enthusiast: Matured two years in oak foudres, this full-bodied blend of Grenache, Mourvèdre and Syrah balances piercing black cherry and cassis flavors against a firm structure of fine, penetrating tannins and bright acidity. Richly concentrated yet pristine in fruit, it finishes on a sultry, smoky streak of crushed stone and charred anise. Approachable in youth but likely to improve through 2030 and hold longer still.94/100

Jeb Dunnuck über: Chateauneuf du Pape

-- Jeb Dunnuck: Not yet bottled, the 2017 Châteauneuf-du-Pape is cut from the same cloth as the 2016 yet has a slightly more sunny, sexy style. Kirsch, peppery garrigue, and lavender notes all emerge from the glass, and it’s medium to full-bodied, has tons of character, ripe tannins, and the balance to evolve for over a decade. 92-94/100

Galloni über: Chateauneuf du Pape

-- Galloni: Bright ruby. Potent red and blue fruit liqueur, potpourri and incense are complemented by hints of botanical herbs and exotic spices. Attractively sweet and energetic in style, offering spice-laced raspberry, boysenberry, dried cherry and floral pastille flavors supported by a strong undercurrent of smoky minerality. Polished, even tannins frame and shape a smooth finish that lingers with strong persistence and repeating florality. I'd have guessed that there was more Grenache in play here. 92/100

Suckling über: Chateauneuf du Pape

-- Suckling: The inaugural vintage of this wine, it has a very fresh, melon and sliced-pear nose with subtle, stony notes. The palate is smooth, sleek and fleshy with attractive peach flavors and a fresh, crisp feel to the gently nutty finish. Drink or hold. 92/100

Parker über: Chateauneuf du Pape

-- Parker: Darker and plummier than the 2016, Guigal's 2017 Chateauneuf du Pape is another fine effort from this quality-conscious négociant. It's full-bodied, rich and velvety in texture, with notes of cola, dark chocolate and prune plums that linger on the silky finish. 91-93/100
