Lobenberg: 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Verdot. Der Regisseur ist überzeugt, dass es zumindest in seiner Zeit noch nie einen solch hohen Qualitätslevel bei Cabernet und Petit Verdot gab. Hoher ph-Wert mit 3,8 und Alkohol von 13,8%. Schwarz. Extrem aromatische, wuchtig ätherisch duftende, rotfruchtige Nase. Johannisbeere satt. Dann schwarze Kirsche, Crème brulée, feines Holz, erinnert irgendwie an einen großen Brunello Riserva mit einem guten Anteil Richebourg Grand Cru, superb! Das Riechen reicht! Frische Zwetschge und Cassis dann im Mund, Schokolade warm und flüssig, aber ultrafein und mit einer feinen Johannisbeersäure unterlgt, zarte Schwarzkirsche, eine gehauchte Sauerkirsche und etwas exotische Orangenschale, Brombeere in zarter Andeutung, alles tänzelt und bleibt leicht, der Wein hebt mit dem Genießer ab, so relaxt und unaufgeregt leicht ist er, kommt aber ultralang zurück, einfach delikat in Vollendung. Krafttrinker und Blockbuster-Freunde werden schwer enttäuscht sein. Im Mund super geschliffene Seidigkeit im Tannin. Genuss jetzt sofort, unglaublich! Harmonie pur. Bildet mit Lafite und Las Cases ein tolles Finesse-Dreieck! Oder wie Mitjaville von Tertre Roteboeuf es sagte:' Alles perfekt, also ein langweiliger Wein!' 100/100

-- Suckling: The nose is out of this world, with lilacs, currants, blackberries, and blueberries. Full-bodied, with super silky tannins and savory fruit and amazing flavors of fine leather, blueberries, and sandalwood. The quality of the tannins are amazing, with creamy texture and bright acidity on the end. Such classic and classicism. Delicacy. Lasts for minutes on the palate. This is 13.2% alcohol. Best Margaux in bottle yet…will 2010 be as great? 100/100

-- Decanter: If you want to drink a Margaux 2009 any time soon, you need to go for the Pavillon - the grand vin is still extremely young, holding back its power and impact for another five or 10 years time. It's still closed up enough to hint rather than reveal. The smooth, silky tannins are joined by blackberry and cassis fruit with a great sense of vibrancy and concentration, and some tingling minerality with a pulse of electricity. There's a latent generosity here, a slow confidence that builds through the palate as the flavours layer up, yet it's clear that there's still lots to be revealed, particularly the hints of violet and peony florality that just peek through on the finish. This is very, very good - up with the best ever from this estate. 31% of production went into this wine, and it has the same amount of Cabernet Sauvignon as in 2005. 2% Petit Verdot completes the blend. 100/100

-- Parker: Thirty-five percent of the crop went into the 2009 Chateau Margaux, composed of 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot, and the rest Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. The alcohol level of 13.3% is high, but not excessively so. A wine such as this is like the quintessence of terroir. A super, uber-concentrated perfume of creme de cassis and flowers cascades across the palate with a lightness of being despite massive concentration, a sumptuous personality, and an unctuous texture. I have never tasted a Chateau Margaux quite like this. It should be relatively drinkable at an early age, yet will last for 50-100 years. Oh my! (Tasted once.) Paul Pontallier told me they had never had such levels of concentration and tannin as they did in 2009, exceeding anything they ever produced since the Mentzelopoulos family purchased this property in 1978. Pontallier believes 1996 is the closest stylistically, but 2009 is significantly more concentrated than that vintage. I do not disagree because tasting the second wine, Pavillon Rouge du Chateau Margaux, demonstrates that the 2009 is far superior to almost every Chateau Margaux made in the fifties, sixties, and seventies, except for the 1961 and 1953. 98-100/100

-- Gerstl: Ich kann es nicht verkneifen, im Hintergrund bleibt einfach der sensationelle Palmer, den wir gerade zuvor verkostet haben. Aber da ist schon auch gigantisch Tiefe drin, da kommt Melodie aus dem Glas, das duftet unendlich edel, reich, raffiniert. Am Gaumen ist pure Raffinesse, das ist schon ein Erlebnis, sich dieses köstliche Elixier auf der Zunge zergehen zu lassen, der Wein ist etwas strukturierter als Palmer, aber immer noch extrem fein, Süsse und Frische bilden eine präzise Einheit, die Konzentration ist enorm, die verspielte Leichtigkeit des Ausdrucks absolut beeindruckend, das ist wirklich ein ganz grosser, sinnlicher Château Margaux, pure Schönheit und doch nicht einfach so ohne Ecken und Kanten, das ist ein sensationeller Charakterwein und letztlich auf ganz andere Art ebenso genial wie der Palmer.sicherlich der beste bisher produzierte. 20/20
